Are there any new options for bumpers that work with BSM sensors?

I checked the rear bumper thread, but I can't tell if it's been updated in a while. So far I think there's only C4 and maybe OCF/MBRP? Any others?

To the companies reading this, BSM isn't going away, and with 2020 there's more years with sensors than without so please take that into account when you're developing products.

Oh yeah and INB4 all the manly men (or women) say "Hur dur! Just use your mirrors! I'm superior to you cause I have the so edgy opinion technology, or anything that could possibly help make things safer, sucks" I think that covers it. Yes I use my mirrors. I don't rely on BSM's, I don't NEED it, but I do like it. Thanks for helping out the thread.

    To everyone else, happy Friday!

Kidding. I also hate that argument. Same morons that say it is fine to take their sway bar off because they "don't drive like it is a racecar".

FYI, C4 pulled their BSM compatible bumper. It had very little interest (uglier than sin) AND most importantly, they couldn't get it to operate consistently.

The issue is that the BSM cannot shoot through steel or have steel anywhere near the front of it. Many people, have suggested using plastic windows, but if you do this, why bother with a steel bumper. You'll have a plastic bumper, just like the factory one.

To add to Bert’s post, which is spot on, it’s also a big liability. Sure you shouldn’t rely on it to prevent accidents, but it doesn’t stop someone sue happy to go after a fabricator because they merged into someone.

Edit: I think I’ve seen a tube style bumper with huge openings on the side and the bsm candy bar boxes just mounted in the opening. Wasn’t pretty but if you’re bent on a steel bumper and retaining bsm..

I was in the same boat when my bumper cap was ripped off. Bought a non bsm steel bumper, loved the durability and parking worry free, but the useless button and mirror lights were annoying so I sourced the parts to fix the OEM bumper.

@Bertw192 thanks for the update on C4!

I agree it's kinda ugly but it could be designed around.

I did get an email reply from ARB that theirs takes BSM and back up sensors. The design is decent too.

Fucking sue happy America. I guess I understand that point, but I could also see it go the other way too. The truck came equipped with sensors and you removed them, that caused an accident. I'm suing you. Fucking damned if you do and damned if you don't.

    Thanks for the reply.

@trackdaybro yeah I'm looking into my options cause I went outside this morning to see someone put a nice scrap in my bumper cap and didn't leave a note. I hope whoever did dies of gonorrhea and rots in hell.

Looks like I'll get the ARB after I save a few dollars

Link to the ARB? Had no idea they had a BSM compatible bumper.

Not a bad looking bumper. Will be interesting to see more pics and the install process. I assume that those plastic panels overlap the paint and cutting isn't required. Kind of looks like a faux high clearance bumper.

Yeah that's my guess on the sides too.

It's a shame that it doesn't relocate the factory hitch receiver up higher (like it does for the other vehicles). A lot of people don't mind, but I hated scraping that when off-roading.

ARB stuff usually bolts up easy with little to no modifications. Just there prices are GD painful. Nice stuff, but ugh.
