    OP a good place to start is to compare the stopping performance of the existing brakes with those you will find on the aftermarket.

    I have a TRD OR as well and consider the OEM brakes on mine to be excellent. Way too many have been disappointed by aftermarket brakes, me included. Make sure you look at the sides of the pad for two letters: they will appear like EF or FF or some other combination. They indicate the cold (200 deg) and hot (600 deg) performance of the pad that translates to a frictional coefficient. For the more common pads the letters are:

    E = 0.25-0.35 cF @ 200 deg; E = 0.25-0.35 cF @ 600 deg
    F = 0.35-0.45 cF @ 200 deg; F = 0.35-0.45 cF @ 600 deg
    G = 0.45-0.55 cF @ 200 deg; G = 0.45-0.55 cF @ 600 deg

    Compare that with the OEM, currently rated as FF, as you certainly do not want poorer performing brakes cold or hot. Any combination of letters is possible so be aware that you can find pads with high gripping ability when hot but are weak when cold and visa versa. A couple of years ago I tried the Carbotech Formula 1521 which at the time were rated GG. I liked them but the bedding procedure has to be followed exactly and confirmation from the company of their rating is probably a good idea.
