Gee wouldn't look nice with spot welds! Aircraft use glued parts guess it's just some thing else to whine about.

Show me one vehicle that does not use glue! If you knew all this why did you buy one?

would be nice if they did BUT i can say that my TJ Wrangler (2003) had spot welds on most of the body and you could see them all under the paint because of the poor fit & finish. Looked like a 5yr old with a holepuncher traced every panel…

I completely gave up on looking for tacoma parts in the local salvage yards.

I saw one that was a body, bed, engine and tranny sitting on top of wheels with no frame. the doors were all crunched somehow.
The other one next to it looked like it rolled down a hill after getting plowed by a semi.
probably 1200 cars in that lot. only two tacomas. a shit ton of early 2000's f150's though and an entire section of focus's

All I wanted was a window motor. After fking around with a hammer and crowbar, i gave up. I never did replace that window motor

I honestly wonder how all the bells and whistles on a 3rd gen will hold up after 17 years.

I have a bare base model, so there's less crap to fail.

I've bought and sold over a dozen corollas. all were dead when purchased with over 250k miles.
I gave one to my Ex momnlaw and she drove it to 425k. it was completely functional (looked like shit) until the day she let her husband leave it on some train tracks (he's an idiot).

all but one were completely recovered and flipped with about $300 of fluids, spark plugs and various regular maintenance items. several of them looked to have original plugs with huge gaps. all of them had working (probably original) A/C. All of them had shit paint and low quality interior.

only one was a waste. it was a 2001 with a known piston ring/oiling related issue. it was drivable with 60psi compression on all cylinders LmfaO. This one is still sitting in my yard (my stepson stripped the allen heads out of the valve assembly bolts during the tear down for rebuild...)

a corolla used to be a fairly cheap "economy" car. but the important parts were all decent quality with good quality control on the assembly.

As well as other cars/tracks, and even without some issues mentioned above.

Many vehicles use glue, but the difference is that the hood glue holds up very well compared to the Tacoma.

    You are 200% correct.

Or: JB WELD. I think they make it in a putty formula now. It one of those rare products that actually work.

Nothing but love here. I had a 16' JKU Rubicon that I kept stock and absolutely loved with the 6 speed manual. Only thing that sucked was the sway bar disconnect started throwing errors after a few bad storms. That was a nice $2k repair. Got rid of it and rode my Ducati and KTM for a couple of years before buying a Taco. Nothing but great memories in that Jeep. Very capable for a stock Rubicon.

One reason I love my 2010 single cab. I've usually been a minimalist with add on stuff anyway.

Have you taken a look at the 3rd gen tundra forums? They have some ISSUES man, and thats a $60k truck! Every car/truck has issues its just a matter of how you process it. While keeping in mind that the early model of a new generation usually has unique issues.

As for that poor tail gate construction i'm pretty sure the early 2nd gens were the worst offenders and they improved the design later. I installed a Mobtown tailgate reinforcement and solved the worry for mine

Wow, the things we complain about. Any vehicle I have owned has had issues. Be thankful you have the choice to sell it and try something else. Be thankful that you have 2 eyes to see the LITTLE problems and use those same eyes to enjoy beautiful sunrise and glorious sunset

Seriously though, in the few months of ownership I do really like driving my simple little truck. Aside from a few minor cosmetic issues and a brake switch that was out of alignment i havent had any trouble. Its light, efficient, and reliable even with high miles.

and as a bonus the truck had many new parts, (frame, front & rear brakes, clutch, tires, and a lot of engine parts too). I have confidence in it lasting for a few years of daily duty at least…

I picked this vehicle because i knew it was a no-cost option and would be reliable.

and the forums here are informative and helpful, seems like a better community than a lot of other car communities ive been a part of in the past.
