I'm in high school. And I'm not the kind of guy to pay 30k for something and have to test it.

Aas you can see, I had both.
Before I were forced into buying a 2.7 2016 which without the 3.5 motor, it's doubtful it's worth the price.......I would buy a 2015, v6 access cab 4by4 SR5. I think your point may be, Toyota wants you to consider a 4 by4 v6 2015. It's a way of selling off all those 2015 v6 models. The 2015 off road I bought last fall was over $2k below msrp. It should be more now.

I can see from a marketing standpoint having one just to keep the entry costs down, but outside of the SR 4x2 manual AC w/ utility package, they should have stuck with the V6 for everything else.

Looks like the Colorado would be a better buy for someone looking to get into a I4 2wd truck. 200hp/191tq, 3920lb curb weight, and 20/27mpg.

Their marketing strategy is not to let you buy a cheap anything with the v6. They come with too many standard features. They want you to instead by the 2015s v6 they have left. They fill that gap.

I'm not preordering. I'll buy in 6-8 months after user reviews are out, prices stabilize and I've given it a long hard test drive.

Saw this in the 4Runners forum. I participated in the pride of driving a truck with a timing chain and bullet proof crank. 260k miles and just passed up a HP at 90m/hr today. I love this truck. People think it's a turtle but once you hit 3k rpm on 4th There's nothing that can stop you.

In 2wd, the four may be fine. It has the same torque as their 200 hp four and the hp is at a lower rpm. With the six speed, it may be fine in 2 wd. I would wait and try one out.

I never understand threads like this one. If you don't want a 4, don't buy a 4! The fact that Toyota still makes the 2.7 doesn't take away from the V6, whether it's the 3.5 or the existing 4.0. If they quit building the 2.7, you can be pretty sure that the price on the V6 won't go down. Just don't understand why it's such an issue with some people.

I think a lot people would argue that in 2016 with all of the new technology available that a newer motor with more power and a significantly better fuel economy is expected. To have a v6 available that has almost 2x the HP and better MPG's, it's hard to argue the point of a 4cyl that's barely adequate for a 4500lb vehicle. I assume a new 4cyl will be available in a year or two and the 2.7 will be obsoleted. till then it's a good budget option for 10% of buyers.

no issue with anyone.......The fact is, the four does not have the performance of the six, including mileage. It's worth while asking...what is that performance. I have had a bunch of fours and they were worthwhile within their limitations. When you have a truck you want to use outside of the limitations of a four, whic I did, I started buying the six.

This occurred mainly in the second gen as the truck got heavier. There is nothing untruthful or derogatory about pointing out what you can or can't use a four for. Heck, some want an eight so they can pull houses off their foundations. That will piss off the insecure six owners.....I guess.

Oh, I understand everything you're saying, but most of the people that gripe about the 4 don't drive a 4 cyl. truck, or wouldn't drive a 4. Just don't understand what they hope to accomplish by all the belly-aching.

Belly aching accomplishes nothing, but if they had a new 2.0-2.5L (maybe turbo) that had 200hp and got 30mpgs I would strongly consider it over the v6. If gas ever goes back to 4 dollars a gallon that's going to be a very popular option.

I disagree......I think many are like me. We have owned fours before and EVERYTIME I shop for a new one, I ALWAYS try out the smallest and cheapest motor just to see if it will serve my needs. If the four will not, I don't buy it. I think most six owners are like that. It's not a pissing contest....for me in as large a truck the Taco has become, with 4 wd and auto, the four is usless much of the time. I pull boats, I live on the side of a mountain and I also travel long trips to visit relatives...love using cruise control and keeping up with traffic on hills.
