I had the URD kit installed, not TSB parts. Searching TW, FJcruiserforums etc., the consensus is neither is a fix.

This one is too new to be able to tell what is the verdict.

Ah, bummer. How bad is the squeak? When does it happen?

It used to be a chirp, after URD sleeve kit and new clutch was put it, chirp was gone, now there is a almost constant squeal, worse than before actually.

IMHO, a much higher percentage of manual owners are enthusiasts vs automatic owners. The buyer and seller both know the rarity of them, and if the demand is there, they will naturally command a higher resale value.

Good choice. I love my 6MT. it's a TRD Sport, too, so really it is a fun truck to drive. It's no Miata, but I can tell you it takes curves and turns waaaaaaay better than my buddy's f150. Don't settle... find the one you want.

Took forever to find, but bought mine through Carmax. '14 DCSB TRDOR 4x4 with 29,000 miles on it. One owner, no wrecks and in great shape. I paid $29k for it.

The first time I took it into the local dealer to get the old changed, the guy said he had never seen a manual Tacoma before. There seems to be more people looking for them then are available, especially since the '16s and '17s had automatic issues.

Interesting...6MT Tacomas are not 'that rare' around here.

I just hope 3rd gen 6MT holds up better than the 2nd gen.

I sold a 98 with manual, I got 14 responses to my add the first day. The first person that showed up bought it. I wish I had more of them to sell. They sell themselves.

After thinking about it since I bought it, I'm pretty sure they didn't know what TRDOR meant.

A TRD OR with a 6-speed MT and a 6' bed is only available for purchase in Canada on MY16 and up.

Those with that configuration, especially MY12-MY15 will certainly fetch a pretty penny.

I will most likely NEVER sell my MY13.

Accordingly my wife will likely NEVER understand why I'm stockpiling OEM take-offs in the garage with a truck that is yet to break 60k.

    Good luck with your search.

I weighed the options between getting a manual short bed and an auto long bed. I got a long bed. The auto is a fantastic tranny....but the hooligan in me always thinks about getting a manual short bed and a trailer :(

I hate that they did away with the AC OR Manual on the new ones.

Been thinking about selling my truck lately, but the more I punder it the more I realize I will mostly have sellers remorse shortly there after......We bought a boat last month, and I could really use a DC to pull the boat instead of my wife's 09 Honda Pilot. My truck is pretty much useless in that capacity with the whole family trying to squeeze into it. I have thrown around the idea of picking up a 17 Pro and going auto, but I am very afraid I will hate the auto. My Baja seems pretty rare being a AC/man, and SC. Don't really think I would get what it's worth if I tried to sell it.

So, I bought one today (well, technically put down a deposit).

It's... an auto :facepalm:Yeah, I never thought I'll buy one as long as I have all limbs. Actually today was the first time I drove an auto Tacoma (previously I test drove several 2nd gen. manuals, both V6 and I4, and the 3rd gen I also drove only manuals). The auto indeed seems decent. Frankly, the manual in the 2nd is really truck like, which feels weird because most everything else about Tacoma makes it car like (particularly seating position). I'd still prefer it, but I won't hate auto too much I think. The manual in the 3rd gen feels far, far better, however, and when (if) I buy the 3rd gen it will be a manual.

Anyway, tell me what you think about my deal:

2013 ACLB TRD Sport 4x4 w/tow package, 42k miles, still under powertrain warranty. Mechanically seems perfect, interior perfect, frame rust free basically, outside some scratches - mostly damage to the plastic fender flares on one side and rear bumper was lightly hit and pushed in on one side (and scratched). Some minor scratches to the bed side and one of the rear door, but no dings except tiny ding on the tailgate. Minor "rear impact" accident on the report, which appears to be that bumper damage. No sign of any paint/body work. $20,800+tax/reg.

Figured I should not go too wrong with this one at this price. I don't quite like buying a car with an "accident" strike on the record - might make resale harder. But on the plus side the truck not being perfect cosmetically makes it easier to do truck things with it rather than treating it as a garage queen. Or - I might ditch the painted pieces (flares and bumpers) and replace with unpainted ones - I like that look.

    A pic attached below.

Since you asked... I'd reconsider. Sounds like you're trying to talk yourself into this particular truck. And the reason the price "seems decent" is because no one else is rushing to buy that truck with its damage/history. Think long and hard about spending $20k for some damaged goods -- and if it's going to eat away at you every time you write a payment check for the next five or so years. I know that if it were me, i'd never be able to love that truck.

Another thing... The damage is always worse than the dealer lets on -- remember, he's glossing this thing up for a sale -- and the more you look at it later on, the more you're going to find.
