I could care less what it looks like. I bought it because it's a Tacoma so should be reliable in the long run with low maintenance costs. The towing capacity meets my needs, for when I need on a very rare occasion. It came with a manual transmission. It has good off-road capability so is useful for hunting/camping. I found it to be comfortable. I liked that it is simple in a lot of ways but has some modern creature comforts like bluetooth, Qi charging, navigation with big screen, multi-purpose display. I felt the price was very reasonable. Compared to other vehicles in the price range I really couldn't find anything that gave me what I was looking for. Really, to put it simply, it meets all of my needs and the price was right.

In regards to looks: the grill has grown on me. I think it matches the headlights quiet nicely. I won't black the grill out without blacking out the headlights too. There is a theme here, and changing one without the other just doesn't look right to me because you end up with a black grill but chrome projector headlights. That reminds me of some cheap civic that threw projector headlights on their car ... it just doesn't flow and look right.

Probably my favorite thing about the looks are the fender flares/bulges. It's muscular looking and definitely an improvement over the slender body of earlier years.

Probably my least favorite thing about the looks is the fact that some of the lines look a little off with a short bed. The proportions are a little strange with a stubby bed.
My biggest complaint is still just that the volume up/down is on the left/right of the thumb controls :annoyed:

It's a Tacoma. Every single time they've done an update people go, "oh god, it's so ugly, I love the old one so much more, I'll never upgrade ..." but you know what, it's still a Tacoma, and they've all done basically the same fucking thing. They throw in a few updates to make it ever so slightly modern, but it's still basically the same truck it's always been. And people keep buying them, and they keep driving them for a long ass time. Coz they're Tacomas, and that's what they do.
