if you are running 33 or 35 s your speedo will be off
    you are really traveling more miles then you are showing {per my gps}
so you will not get an accurate reading by dividing miles by gallons used

I filled up a few days ago ... TOPPED OFF ... I filled it right to the very top like always. I got to 3/4 tank and I have travled 134 miles!!! Which would but me at about 26.8 miles per gallon!?!?! (134 miles/5 gallons = 26.8)

I have a 2009, access cab 4X4. Has a 21 gallon tank. I.ve had her so low on gas that the light comes on, and have found from refueling her all the way to the top, that you need to do that inorder to get to 21 gallons. She might be holding a little more then that, like 21.5, but point is I have found you really need to top her off to get 21 gallons.

It is the middle/end of April, and here in northern ohio it looks like they have switched over from winter gas to summer gas, which basically means non-oxigenated feul. At least that is what the gasoline companies told me when I called corperate offices.

Most of the time I drive 50/50 city/highway with about 15 to 16mpg (winter gas). Since the last fill up it has been 20city/80highway, and with summer gas.

Yes, I know, my milage will improve with highway driving. But when I drive 20c/80h on winter gas the best I do is 20-20.5mpg.

The point is, I don't get this bullshit about how/why the fuel is oxegenated in the winter for pollution control, when whatever pollution is reduced, we generater that and more because of less mpg!

You know, between this and all the other forums, if we all just called and bitched relentlessly to our congressmen (making sure that they know there is alot of us), we can but and end to this shit. Afterall, we have the power...we are voters!!!

First two tanks on my new 2010 DC 4WD V6 TRD OR were 18.9 and 19.8. I am very happy with these numbers as both tanks were a mix of city and 55 mph highway with some interstate.

Sadly this is incorrect because the gas gauge doesn't read linearly. Otherwise that would be an awesome MPG

As already said, you can't use that 3/4 mark on your gauge as an accurate reading by any means. I will say though, I pay very close attention to my fuel consumption, and if I'm at 134 miles at my 3/4 line, I'm doing very well. Typically these days I'm lucky if I can get to 125 miles at that point, frequently it's more like 120.

Also, I have a hard time believing you're ever able to squeeze 21 gallons into your tank, unless you really run it to the point of being almost completely empty. If I wait to fill up after my low fuel light comes on, it will typically take about 18.5-19.5 gallons to top it off again.

I must have had a tailwind yesterday--I drove home my normal back-highway route at 55 mph, and Scangauge reported a trip average of 25.6 mpg. Same trip today, in calm weather, I was back down to 24.5 mpg.

My mileage is crap! But I didnt expect anything else after I bolt on 33s, Heavy skids, dual batterys, arb and winch, extra fuel and water, recovery equipment, fridge, rooftop tent and frame, well You get the point! If I wanted mileage I would rebuild an old diesel rabbit mini Elcamino looking thing. Just saw a nice one the other day and got my gears turning. He He.

I've finally officially beat the EPA highway number on my combined cycle commute. Thanks to the help of tail winds for most of my last tank, I logged 26.8 mpg today. I put 363.9 miles on the last tank, and it took 13.59 gallons to fill the tank.

so i am now averaging from 18.7 to 19.6 mpg ever since i did my mobil 1 oil change a month ago, i have done 5k mileage since the change to date and at least 10 or 11 fill ups, do the math. full synthetic seems to have upped my mpg by about 1-2 mpg, there is a new synth. out there that i may try, castrol or valvoline, not sure, saw on a commercial. may look into that

I have no complaints about my MPG

Here is my Interceptor Gauge average mpg reading from a 80 mile highway trip today. Mostly kept it at 70 MPH

Things I have done to my truck that maybe could have helped:

    1. Mobil 1 5W-30 Full Synthetic Oil
    2. AFE Pro Dry S Air Filter
    3. Clean Throttle Body Once a Year
    4. Clean MAF Sensor every 2 Years
    5. Changed Rear Diff Fluid at 25,000 miles
    6. Changed Spark Plugs at 25,000 miles
    7. Use Chevron Fuel System Cleaner every 2 years
    8. Serviced Trans Pan/Fluid at 25,000 miles
    9. Fill up with Sunoco Ultra High Octane gas once every 2 months (I run Regular Octane Most of the time)

Just switch to synthetic and started running 93 octane. Got almost 22mpg all highway in my TRD OR. Was very happy with this. Used to average 16-17 now its 18+. Could be the change over to summer blends as well.

Yes, both you and the dude who respond to my post above you, are right. I know the guage is not that acurate. How ever When I got the truck I did do some test at 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 tanks at the guage, just to see how close it was. There not spot on, but for ruff figuring there not bad.

2 thing to pont out...1)when I said I topped off, I really ment I topped off...lol I fill that sucker right to the brim, litteraly. After the pump does that auto shut off thing, I can get anoth 2 to 2.5 gallon in there (depending on the station). The gas is filled right up to 1/2 inch of the top of the opening.

    2) I have had the truck about a year and a half now. I am habbitual (little OCD) about following my milage as I drive. Previos to this fill up, the most I have ever gotten at 3/4 tank at the guage, was 107 miles. So ya, 134 shocked the hell out of me. I'm not at the 1/2 tank yet, but I will easyily clear 200 miles at that point. I'll post at that point, probably on Sunday.

Since we bought our 06 we have not taken it out on the highway yet. However in town driving so far the MPG has been between 17-19 MPG so an average of 18MPG I feel is pretty darn good.

If I keep my double-cab TRD 4x4 at 60 mph I can get 25 mpg on the highway, unless I'm in the mountains. If I drive 75+ mph with the rest of the traffic then the mileage drops to about 21 mpg. In the city, my mileage depends a lot on when I drive. If I have to drive a lot at rush hour when I need to accelerate and brake quickly so as not to be in the way of other traffic, yet still spend a lot of time idling at traffic lights, my mileage can go as low as 14 mpg.

Filling it literally to the brim of the filler pipe? Holy crap, that's not good... definitely not recommended.

And even after filling it up completely like that you're only getting 134 miles at the 3/4 tank mark? Wow, I never fill mine up... always stop filling at the first click and I average 115-125 miles at the 3/4 mark. Granted you have a 4x4 and I'm in a Prerunner (which makes a difference in MPGs, to be sure) but if you're getting an extra 2.5 gallons in after the first click then the mileage isn't actually that great.

    This.

The average I've found after talking with about a dozen Taco owners who have an adjusted SGII is it's off by 11.8%. Mine fluctuates between 10.3% and 11.8% (I adjust after every tank) depending on the weather and what I was doing that week.
