I'm only getting 250 miles per tank, pretty crappy, but I have aftermarket additions which prevent decent mileage. Still love my truck though :D

I'm getting around 20 but that has gone down with winter mix (ethanol I think)?
Scangauge helps, drive light keep it under 2000 rpm. I babied the DC 4x4 when I first got it, now I have started hitting the gas a little more, that doesn't help either. Start slow if you can from a dead stop that burns the Most gas.

Ok I am down to just over 17 mpg on my last fill up. Can the fuel mixture really decrease mileage that much? F*@! the EPA they are ruining everything! Did they start adding more ethanol this winter or is it something else? Anyone know?

Since they switched to winter blend, lowest is 18.9, highest is 21.8 mpg. Cold gear oil makes it SUCK the gas so the first 10 minutes are a pain.

The one tank where it snowed a bunch and I had to use the 4WD for about 30% of the trip distance I got 19.9 mpg.

For a truck with an EPA average of 16... umm booyah.

Can't wait for summer when I get to really push it. Crappy aisin tranny better give me at least one 25 mpg tank.

The difference between winter and summer gas is the RVP (Reid vapor pressure); summer gas has a lower rvp to prevent it from evaporating in the heat. Depending on where you're at, the summer blend has anywhere from 1.5-1.8 percent more energy.

    There ya go.

    Damn lift and tires.

I was getting 21.5 MPG with my stock setup, now I'm lucky if get 14/15

But, "you gotta pay to play" and I love my new lift and tires.

Cool. Gotta throw that one in the databank.

Bigger differences will likely be the fluid viscosities and warmer intake air.

    Update.

I ran all summer and fall averaging 21ish on my work commute which is 75 miles of freeway round trip. Try to stay around 65 which is 2k RPM.

Around December I noticed a slight drop down to 19.5-20 for the same commute, I'm assuming winter gas is to blame. I was on vacation the last two weeks of December and early January, with less freeway driving I come in about 18-19.

I'm averaging 16.0 mpg. I never use overdrive during the first 1K miles other than to 'test it', usually on level ground or downhill on interstates. I do a lot of stop and go with 5 to 10 mile average trips between stops. I don't 'try' to get good milage, yet, prefering to do 'my method' of enging break in. Buddys say to just get in and drive the snot out of it, but at 61 years of age and after a LOT of discussions with engineers and such, I still like to 'do it my way'.
I hope to get 20 mpg on highway trips and will be doing those in the spring when my 1,500 lb fishing boat will be behind me.
My 2000 Nissan Frontier 4x4 auto trans V6 truck is still running great with 217,000 miles on it. It got 16 average around town, and 20-21 mpg on 75+mph Interstate trips [without the boat, 18-19mpg with].
    I'm "BUG TRUCK" on "FUELLY.COM" {2012 section}

Really REALLY liking my Tacoma TRD Off Road!

I'll do both: rpm at 60 mph,...and mph at 2K rpm. Rpm at 60 mph seems like a good standard. What transmission/engine do you have?

This can also be interesting. I drove a 2000 Nissan Frontier double cab 4x4 for years at a company I worked at. Started my own company and wound up with a 2000 [same year] Xtra Cab Nissan Frontier 4x4 for myself. Same engines/year model/4x4 but the previous company truck had a 5 speed manual, mine an automatic. One day I was driving down the highway and wondered what the 'final ratio' of each vehicle was [reguardless of axle ratio] and called my buddy that still worked at the company and got my truck - it was about 2 or 3 hundred rpm difference.....for what it's worth. My engine thru an auto trans was turning a few hundred RPM slower at same speed.
Called him last week and learned the company did not let him have the timing belt replaced in the V6...and it broke at 255K miles after NEVER having been replaced. Always interesting to find out how long they go IF one were to not do recommended replacement intervals. He said the engine was repaired and a new timing belt installed...."clicks a little" but runs ok now. Somehow the pistons didn't totally trash the valves I guess. Some engines self destruct from what I've heard [when the timing belt gives way]. I have 217K miles on my 2000 Nissan Frontier 4X4 SE and my belt was replaced at 117K miles [factory recommends every 105K miles]. Looks like I've got at least another 5K miles to go if I do factory recommended replacement intervals.

Guess this could be another topic to post!

my fuel log on my android says i am getting an average of ~16.83 MPGs.

    on 1700 miles
400 of it pulling an auto transport from uhaul ~1000lbs with a v6 89 runner with all the parts in it. ~4400lbs
    i equaled ~11.5-12MPGs for that 400
i drive at 70-73 or no more then 3 over the posted speed limit and on cruise.

33in tires, 3" lift, steel light bar on front, 6speed stock gears. 75MPH=~2500RPMs i think but will check later

love the truck but after the engine goes i am buying the 1st gen tundra 4.6 and tranny+xfer case and having it installed in the taco. box frame and go.
dont care if it takes 8k to do it.
