Not sure if anyone already mentioned this but ...

My Honda Civic has two oxygen sensors installed before and after the catalytic converter. I would routinely average 600 KMS to a tank of gas. (40 litres) After the O2 sensors stopped working my fuel economy dropped to 500 litres per tank. Replaced both O2 sensors and my fuel economy returned to the normal average of 600 litres per tank.

    Something like a 17% fluctuation.

Not 100% sure how many O2 sensors are installed on the taco. But if your fuel economy suddenly drops consider replacing the 02 sensors.

I've heard that as well as to check the mass air flow sensor. Too bad those things don't give out an OBD code when they are starting to suck (fail).

I drive two vehicles one a diesel Jetta and the other a V6 Taco guess the one that I take long distance? You talk about a hit Taco 20 MPG on a good day VW has never have gotten less then 50 MPG! Good thing I did not buy the Taco because of it's sterling mileage or the Jetta to haul fire wood.

My best has been 24.6 driving in the hills at 55-60 MPH.

My worst was 16 MPG pulling my boat at 70 MPH on the interstate.

My typical local driving gets me 19 MPG which is about 3 MPG above the average my Silverado got.

Running interstate at 70 gets me 20 MPG, taking the same route at 60 gets 24 MPG.

WOW, I would think that the I-4 would get better MPG than that.
My Taco TRD V-6 Dbl Cab is almost as good. I can't wait until Toy comes out with direct fuel injection if ever, maybe then we will get better MPG.
Would like to see an I-4 Diesel first, like I saw in Honduras. They were getting 25/30 MPG and they drive like maniacs with no sense of economy in mind. I would trade my gas Taco in, in a heart beat.

Before I got my ultragauge I got 15ish because of a lead foot. then I bought the gauge and now with a v6 stock under the hood winter my last tank was 16.2 and in the summer I was getting 18.2ish, which is ever bit as good as the 4 cly and even better than I hear of v6 auotos getting since I have a 6 speed. You just have to keep it stock under the hood. i have done interior and exterior mods to make it stylish, however I learned to keep it stock because I had a ford ranger and once I put that exhaust in the truck sounded cool, but sucked out that gas. Happy Driving folks

My work commute is 12 miles of hilly interstate each way. So, 75 MPH up and down hills to work plus some in-city driving and I average around 18 mpg on 265/75R16 AT tires. I can see how some of you guys living in warm climates where the freeway is flat and 55 mph are getting 20 mpg, but that's just not in the cards for where I ive.

Two tanks ago - 15.8mpg. Worst I'd gotten since buying this truck new 6 mos ago, but not totally unexpected this time of year. Last tank (yesterday's fill-up) - 11.8 WTF??!!! And fully 90-95% of my miles are highway. Again I say, WTF??!!! Monitoring closely to see if it's a 'where I bought my gas' issue. If not then I've got a problem.

I average 16.5-17 almost all my miles are highway. I live on a 60mph road that turns onto a highway that takes me all the way to work. No stop and go for me.

I think it may help if I took my shell off. You can see in my avatar it has a sort of "step up" to the roof.

just because theyre highway miles does not mean good fuel efficiency. keep it below 2000rpm, and generally vehicles fuel efficiency is rated at 55mph....

I notice that I get about 2 MPG better when I use BP Gasoline. maybe the addatives they use have an impact on the efficiency of our trucks...

I always use Premium, and drive like a normal person. I have a Double Cab, Short Bed 4x4 TRD OR.

When I use BP Gas, I get about 18 MPG

I drive like a granny usually stay at about 60-62 and accelerate easily.

My last truck had to be babied to get 13mpg:eek: so I'm used to driving like that.

I've only had mine for a couple weeks. I have no plans to check my MPG. Of course, at some point, I know I will :)
