thanks, i have put up similar posts when someone says i got 5MPGs from removing XYZ.

heard it all, back seats, spare tire, wife, bed, cab etc. all snake oil. people do not understand that the MPG standards that are coming into effect. also they do not know why how much money toyota puts into R&D for all those "i wonder if that will help"

everything comes down to 2 things on automobiles.
does the customer want this? can we do it and make money?

if one or both are no, they leave it to the after market, which do little to no R&D, so overhead is less and they can make claims like magnaflow, K&N, AFE, etc.

12 MPGs improvement for 129 dollars installed. we want to believe it.

lower friction, reduce rolling resistance, improve aerodynamics= MPGs

a toyota 4runner, pickup, 1st gen, 2nd gen tacomas and tundras are none of those and are not designed to be.

Oh Shit something happened!!! They must have changed from the winter blend to summer blend. I just topped off my tank which I do every time and went 310 miles with 13 gallons of gas. That equals 23.8 miles per gallon. The next best I ever got was 19.9 mpg. My Tacoma is a 2011 double cab v6 4X4 SR5.

    And:

This week I just got 22.5 mpg. :)

    Boy Am I stoked. :D

I'm not so much seeing an improvement in actual MPG, but variations in driving conditions, I'll swing 2mpg from tank to tank.

But I am seeing that I'm getting 0.3 or so better than the Ultragauge is indicating.
Today, UG said that I had burned 16 gallons but it only took 15.638. That's been typical for about 3 weeks. I heard that they went to summer blend early.

That's how I see the change, when I need to adjust the fuel adjustment. I'll be gassing up tonight, but I bet it's still winter gas here in CO.

I gave up on making the adjustment. It's a "nice surprise" when I get better than the UG indicates.

A "nice surprise" is better than a "bad surprise" when they change to winter blend and on a road trip after passing a pricey gas station and finding out that "50 miles remaining" is really 40.

11 mpg difference between driving nice in the summer and driving the piss out of it in the winter in 4x4 making very very short trips. MPG difference has a lot of factors.

I've filled up twice in 2 weeks since getting my '13 and have surprisingly been pretty much the same each tank with the 1st tank 18.8mpg and this morning was 18.7mpg. That exceeds the epa combined of 18. This is with around 60% highway driving and an occasional thorough romp on the throttle during break-in.

    LOL!

I figured it was a Canadian because it was spelled correctly and we don't have any Frenchmen on here.

But then I thought "Maybe someone intended it to go toward OZ because of the tank comment" :D
