I get 20 mpg city all the time, they say it gets better the truck gets more broken in, that would be nice but I am happy to have a great truck that gets 20 mpg all the time in constant stop and start. I don't spend much time in the slow lane either.

    Stock for now
In my 08 Prerunner DC SB I got 20 mpg but I now have an 06 4x4 DC SB and get only 15 mpg with same driving habits. Both had the V6 and the 06 has a K&N High Performance Air Filter. The service guy said the 4x4 gets much worse mpg but I find it hard to believe it makes that much of a difference. It doesn't feel as responsive as the Prerunner either. Maybe it is the 4WD and I'm crazy.

Just put 3k on in the past 3 weeks. Most of the mileage was highway, with only small commutes. The best I saw being 20.5 mpg for a tank. I dont think getting better than that is likely.

Got 20.5, 20.2, and 19.4 on the last three tanks. 10% ethanol and 265/75/16 tires. Can't complain I suppose.

I get 18-19 mpg. But if fuel economy is a huge concern, why buy a truck? (unless its for work, then I understand)

I agree with this argument...to an extent (more so for a fullsize truck). I can AFFORD either a fullsize or midsize pickup and it's associated gas mileage. 19mpg avg is not BAD by any stretch of the imagination, but it's the SIZE of the truck that sort of bothers me. I'm driving a truck that is significantly smaller than most moder fullsize trucks (I realize this every time I park next to one), but we're really not getting THAT much better mileage than they are. Yes, I do get 19mpg avg, but I BABY my truck to get that. If I drove it like normal (and I assume most mpg figures from people driving their trucks are from those driving "normal," and not babying it, I doubt I would get much more than 17.5mpg avg.

I know our size is an advantage in manuverability in tight quarters, offroad, etc, but for actual truck use, the size of this truck and it's mpg aren't what I feel are on par with each other.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with my truck and my mpg isn't bad, I just feel there should be a wider gap between fullsize and "mid" size pickups mpg-wise.

Varies. lead foot =15.2, softer on the pedal 16.5. It has come down since the new tires use to be 17.8 to 18.9 Should not have since they are street tread each tire is ~4# heavier than the factory Bridgestones. I have had a tune up so who knows. None the less I love my Tacoma.

I have a 04 dbl cab prerunner 3.4 factory size tires and the mod on the motor is exhaust and K&N drop in filter i have always ran synthetic oil since I've owned it. When I first bought the truck my avg mpg was 16.8/17.7 city 19.5/20.4 hwy lately this thing is chugging gas today was the worst ever 14.7 hwy mostly. The truck runs great, all the filters are new, fresh oil, fluffed the tires I've checked every thing, maf is clean trans filter and fluid are less than a year old, plugs and wires are fine I cleaned the throtle body and checked for DTC's nothing I can't figure it out.I live in FL as far as I can see all the gas here is 10% ethenol mixed I've tried 87,89,and93 it doesn't seem to change I'm only getting avg 225 miles per tank the only other thing I've done is a toytec lift 3'' even then my milage didn't change. CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE!!!

I also seen this EVO thing has anyone seen a real improvment using it?

    A few.
Summer gas didn't start until June 1st. It's the higher temperature that's responsible for the better mileage.

I finally ran all the 93 octane out... 100% in town driving those same evil 10 mile or under hops about and tally-ho'd a big fat 16.6 miles per gallon.

That's a teeny bit better than a half a mile per gallon than what the truck did on the 87 octane. I had no spark knock or any noticable performance decrease with the 87 so a .6 per gallon hike ain't worth the extra at the pump for their "premium" offering IMHO.

Now that I think about it, somone else had similar results posted with a truck nearly the same specs as mine. Short hops jinking around stomps the snot outta MPG numbers for the 6 bangers. My old '01 xtra cab (2.7) got a solid 21 MPG running the same routes.

My truck is very new so the mileage will still be improving but my third tank yielded just over 20 MPG running 91 octane. The first two tanks were almost 19 MPG, the first was running 87 and the second was 91. I'm happy with that, especially considering that it will likely still get better once the engine breaks in completely.

My truck is a V6 auto.
