I would like to sell, but the cars I want to buy aren’t available for MSRP currently. So I’ll stick with the Tacoma for probably another year or two.

Just out of curiosity, did GMC not put an off button on the truck for the auto start/stop? My 18 Grand Cherokee had it and at least Chrysler put a button on the dash to turn it off, but you had to push it every time you started the thing. Not having a way to turn it off would be a deal breaker for me, I hate it. Glad Toyota didn't put it on the Tacos.

You are right - there was a button for disabling the auto start/stop...it quickly became habit too. Start truck --> push start/stop off --> into gear...

The simplicity of the Tacoma really appeals to me...I love having the physical key - i'd take manual windows... I feel like these Tacomas are a dying breed with their "old school" tech - love it.

Everyday. Miss my Jeeps. The trucks solid it's just ok at everything. Decent on road, decent off-road, the paints paper thin, the panel fitment is all over the place. The trans is shit. And I've had more stupid issues, recalls than my jeeps did. I also got same fuel mileage on e rated 35/37s with full armor and spare with my Jeeps than I get with a lift no armor and 33s on this thing. Also have more frame rust on the taco than the jeeps that I drug through rocks. Plus Toyota dealers are the fucking worst scumbags on the planet. I'm keeping it for now. Needs nothing. Plus the 4hi system is actually really good in these in the northeast. Maybe I'm nitpicking but Toyota really left a shitty taste in my mouth dealing with them.

If you think Toyota dealerships are bad you should see Subaru dealerships lol.

I did want to get a Toyota Tundra with the Crewmax cab originally before I purchased my Tacoma but I didnt want to go over my budget so much by springing extra money for a Tundra over a Tacoma. That being said since ive owned my truck since March 2020 its grown on me, it may not be perfect but I love that I can mod it to suit my needs by adding things like armor, camper shells, sliders, lifts, re-gears, etc. The biggest part that I love about Tacoma's besides the Toyota reliability and resale value are that it has a big aftermarket parts scene which not that many other vehicles have. Would I sell my 2020 Tacoma in todays market? nah I would have to pay an arm and a leg for a replacement.

Very true. I guess when I run the numbers out, diff between Taco and something that gets 40+mpg, is really just over 2k$ a year for my specific commute...so not apocalyptic per say :)

Maybe they didn’t need a truck? I know tons of guys with Tacomas or Diesel Silverados or F150s. All of three of us use our beds. The rest could have done with a station wagon or sedan with roof racks but wanted to be manly in their minds and fork and lots of cash at the dealer and the pump.:spending:

So I traded my Tacoma June 2020 for a 4runner V8 4x4, due to a knee issue pushing a clutch everyday was becoming painful. The 4runner was intended to be somewhat temporary, I'd always wanted one and figured I could drive it for a while and figure out what else I wanted.

Ultimately decided on the small, fun and gas sipping segment, ended up with a 21' Civic hatchback. It gets 2.5x better gas mileage than the 4runner did, got it for MSRP.

As for the 4runner, well, I sold it in 1 day for 21% more than I paid for it.

    Check build thread!
I thought about it, test drove a lot of trucks, and none made me smile like the Tacoma. Decided just based on that to keep it.

I’ll keep mine. No desire to sell it at all. Almost 3 years and no issues, just maybe some nit picks here and there but overall I really love the Tacoma. It’s a nice old school, no nonsense great looking truck. It’s my 3 rd one and I have never had any major issues with any of them .
So no thanks. I’ll keep mine.

This is the only way to play it in the current market. Sell and buy nothing.

My truck is paid off and I have looked, but nothing is out there that I want, at any price. I have been offered 4g more for my truck than I paid, but if I sell then buy, I'm gonna cough that 4g right back up.

So I am waiting. I want to see the new Tundra and the new Taco. I figure by 23 or 24 there should be some exciting options out there (hybrid/electric).

Man, the selling market is so much better in the States. The KBB on mine is at/above what I paid (29-34KUSD). But all the 2016 trucks in my area are on average 34K CAD (~26.6K USD); if that's what the dealer is charging then I would likely get so much less than that. There go my dreams of turning a massive profit lol

I sold mine to our local CarMax in Chattanooga. KBB had it at 49k private party sell and 45k trade in for my area. 45k was my bottom dollar to sell and I had it listed on AutoTrader for 5-6 days before I just tried CarMax. Vroom had my offer at 45,531 but I wanted someone to lay eyes on it. It had had the fender replaced due to a buddy hitting a mailbox backing a trailer in to his driveway a few months ago. I don't consider it wrecked by that but it was an insurance claim. Everything is so expensive to replace and repair now... I fully disclosed that to CarMax and my offer came back at 45k even so I took it.

Truck runs too good to be true. I'd be afraid i'd never get another built, and to run as well as this one.
