    I love mine

Low torque makes it seem like a more powerful engine. No complaints about the pick up and go

No issues so far and enjoy the ride

Taking some time to learn how to park a truck in a parking spot. The 200 series Land Cruiser has an ARB bumper on the front so I can see the edges more clearly. I am getting the hang of it

A-Trac is a very good system. Lots of guys with SR5’s doing impressive stuff off road. Sport 4x4 has it as well.

Toyota has tried to imply that A-Trac in a TRD Sport is as good as having an LSD, but I can tell you from experience that it is not. Take off from a stop on wet payment and the traction light comes on signifying a loss of traction and it's reducing engine power, basically taking your foot off the gas. I have had trucks with LSD (non Toyota) and never had this issue. I am fearful every time I take this truck out on a wet rainy road. The A-Trac name implies Automatic, there is nothing automatic about reaching down and turning the 2x4 knob to 4x4 and back again on slippery roads.

I've had an '01, and a '22 Pro. I've had my '24 TH for two weeks now and I really like it. I loved my Pro and would have kept it forever had it not been wrecked. I loved the look of the TH but was hesitant to get a first model year of a new generation. This truck is fun to drive, throttle response is unreal, shifts smooth and the interior is very comfortable. I don't get the "hate" from the Third Gen owners, I was one. So far, great truck...expensive, but great.

They have auto LSD which simulates a LSD. Its just an open diff that applies the brake to the spinning wheel. A true LSD was killed off sometime in the 2nd gen.

Nah I am gonna keep it. It’s actually a great truck for my uses and has been more than capable the places I have taken it off road so far. Also coming from wranglers I wanted a pickup that has good on road manners. My ‘98 tj had open diffs and only let me down once getting high centered. I think the Tacoma is up to going where I will be going.

Also not in the first time truck buyer category. My first truck was a 2001 Chevy 2500 turbo diesel. Bought it used in 2007 and had nothing but fun with it.

Cool. Thanks. Sorry but I’m not giving you a thing.

I work from home and maybe drive 100 miles a month and my warranty will cover anything that goes wrong with it. I have had two new cars, both Nissans, have constant issues early on and they were still some of my favorite vehicles ever.

The 4th gen hate is real. I have no hate for the first three gen’s and think they are cool trucks. Always loved the look of the Tacoma. Seems like the hate mainly comes from people who want it and can’t get it.

Oh and 6 months from now?! Truck is gonna be even better. More parts will become available and I’ll truly get to start modifying it to my liking.

It's funny to me that because of the cameras, parking in reverse is easier than parking going forward. Still getting the hang of it.

I’m a 3rd gen owner and have grown to really like the 4th gen’s. The only reasons I’m not in a 4th gen today are 1) they weren’t available when I started looking for a Tacoma last year, and 2) the main reason being, I wanted the last year (2023) of the V6 where all the 3rd gen bugs should have been worked out by now.

I absolutely love my 2023 6MT and will keep it until I can’t, but count me in as a 3rd genn’er who thinks the 4th gen is cool as heck. Enjoy your 4th gen’s and maybe I’ll be joining you all some day! (as long as they keep making the 6MT, that is.)

    Great thread.

Even with mirrors, it's easier to back in a parking spot especially with a long vehicle. It's also easier to drive out of a parking spot than to back out because of the front end swing. When I had my '95 YJ, it was easy in any direction.

Owned the Trailhunter for a week now and put about 300 miles on it so far. This is my first truck coming from an Accord so really have nothing to compare it to. I did cancel my Cybertruck order for this Tacoma and have to say prob one of the best decisions I’ve made. Only thing I don’t like is I’m getting 18.5 mpg average far from the 22 mpg Toyota claims. Also the car play glitches a lot and voice command hardly works. Overall though for 70k I think it’s overpriced but it’s a Toyota.. I am betting on their Reliability and high resale value.
Overall I’d give it a solid 7 out of 10.

I miss my 2020 TRD PRO. There was next to nothing I didnt like about it.

The Trailhunter is very gimmicky. What I dont like about it: There is no moonroof. The snorkel makes it impossible to keep the windows down because its so loud (I do like the angry walrus.) The rear of the truck is not that pretty, I noticed right away that the spare tire is not centered which looks weird. There is not a lot of leg room in the back seats and there is NO storage. They probably included the first aid kit because there is NO place to put one. The rear doors have Molle paneling but good luck strapping anything to them because its blocked by the seats, its purely decorative. When you use Android auto and Spotify, they center the screen strangely making you look way away from the road to see where you are going and there is no way to adjust the positioning. The HUD on the windsheild shows up double and I think thats because i have a slight astigmatism, there is no way to adjust it so i had to turn it off because i couldnt read it and it was really distracting. The ride is very stiff. The knobs look cheap and plasticky, they should have made them rubberized or made them real machined aluminum. The instrument panel is not intuitive and I dont think there is a previous/next button on the steering wheel to change the song without clicking buttons on the main screen. The doors are extremely heavy. I think the QI charger is going to be obsolete soon (its already obsolete because its slow charging and I never even used the one in the last truck I had. It would be nice to have an alarm when you forget your phone on the charger, i've already left it in the truck when going in a resturant and that makes me hesitant to use it at all. When the QI charger does go obsolete that space is going to be completely useless and is going to end up collecting dust, dirt and crumbs. Good luck cleaning it out... I feel like that space on the truck leaves a lot to be desired. Speaking of space, the center console is way too small and they left that space in the lid again. With all of the gimmicks, you think they would have improved the things people didnt like about the last Gen.

What I like about it: When you push the gas, it takes off and doesnt feel bogged down. The volume knob is great, but that might say more about the volume knob in previous generations than it does about the TH... The exterior lighting is fantastic. There are so many cameras, almost too many, but i dont hate them. The screen is gigantic and wonderful. I love the tall ride. All of the ARB equiment is well made and looks sharp, they took their job seriously and Toyota should continue partnering with them. The seats are very comfortable and they are finally both adjustable, welcome to the new millenium, why did it take so freakin long? I actually have to raise the seat and i'm no longer sitting on the floor. I like the space above the glove box and my wife really enjoys sitting in the passenger seat..with the window up because its too loud to roll it down. The acoustic glass is really nice and the cabin is comfortable. The AC is good. The cooled seats are freakin rad!

Final take: Would i buy it again had i known a week ago what i know now? There is a lot that I dont love. But yeah I'd buy it again, and hopefully that doesnt change. I get a lot of compliments but I got a lot of compliments on my last truck too.

The only thing Gimmicky is the ARB sports bar, it’s just for decoration at this point and serves little purpose.

BTW, You can change the music by clicking the forward and back buttons on the right side of the steering wheel.

I feel like between the TRD Pro and the Trailhunter, TRD Pro has way more gimmicks such as the non-functioning hood scoop, ISO dynamic seats that takes up 90% of the rear leg room and fox shocks that you have to manually adjust.

I am glad that I bought the Trailhunter and have zero regrets.

Interesting take. I think the suspension is really nice even if a bit firm. At 1,100 miles it’s beginning to break in a bit. On the ass of the truck looking kinda weird— I agree! Is that just the fender flares and the steel bumper? Oddly it’s growing on me but it’s got some “junk in the trunk” for sure that I think will look more proportionate with bigger tires. I do think it’s incredibly smooth to drive which is the best part. I’d buy again for sure.
