Yep. And how many people that made it through never changed their lifestyle afterwards?

I would think events like that would make folks realize the importance of being prepared but perhaps I give people too much credit

Heh, I was stationed in NYC during the Sandy response. A little hiking solar panel kept the some lanterns on, and my pad (thankfully) had running water and gas. Ended up doing a bunch of grilling with our neighbors on the rooftop grill of all the stuff that was going bad, though. Work had food and FEMA supplied fuel for the generators.

Sorry not been on here much. We have been getting our oldest daughter ready to move and we decided to take the dive down a rather deep rabbit hole.
We are at that point in life trying to kinda get rid of stuff and streamline things a bit. We decided to expand our pantry and relocate part basically splitting it into 2. Quite a bit of work reorganizing and cataloging everything

Garden is thriving with all this rain. I need to till again and finish planting.
    Tomatoes look great

peppers doing good have 4 more to plant

this pop of sun made my first row of beans spring up

all part of the process I guess some will get canned, some dehydrated, some frozen. At least with this we know exactly what we have. Helps building up food for the winter

Possible freeze tonight and tomorrow night, so we will be covering tomatoes. We've already lost the first planting even though they were covered.

I haven’t planted beans in years. Being diabetic I’m trying to store more veggies so I’d like to can a bunch

Yeah, that's what we say here too. Still gonna freeze tonight and the next. Old sayings are great until they're wrong.

We used to plant earlier and idk how many times the garden was turned into a tent city trying to save the plants. So far, Morhers day has been a pretty safe bet.
