I finished off a jar of blackberry jam from 2017 on Sunday. Lid was not popped, there was no "mother" (bloom, mold) on the top of the jam.
Fried Spam with onions for breakfast, cans were 1 year past expiration date. All good (cans were not bulging). Still have 300ish cans to eat (I may have gone too heavy on Spam )
Eating soups 2 years past their Best of Date (forgot about them). As long as cans are not bulging, I will eat them.
Same with canned green beans (we had stocked up on Sam's beans dirt cheap while they were on sale, being discontinued).

Best buy dates are suggested. As you know.
Properly stored peanut butter is still tasty years after said date.

Broth is set up this morning,
Gelatin. Wouldn't have been if I'd have gnawed on them .

so I’ll start this off with water. I built a rain catchment system last year. I feed a 330 gallon IBC tote from my garage gutter. I then added a secondary 275 gallon tote. This water is for plants and sanitation not drinking.

my nemesis is finding how to get fresh drinking water out of my well with no power. I bought a “well bucket” it’s a specially made 2 gallon bucket made to be dropped into your well casing to retrieve water but you have to remove the pump.
I’m exploring other options using a generator as well but a gas supply may be finite and a non powered way is preferred.

EZ well hand pump, so long as though your not over 150 ft.

You are absolutely correct. If SHTF in one way or another and you have to do a bunch of physical work having all the preps in the world wont help if you keel over from a heart attack. Some stuff I can’t help like being diabetic but that doesn’t mean I can’t try. I’m still doing pretty physical work every day so that helps.
