I'm looking forward to some time off and looking to do the same soon... maybe 10-15 days?
    :bananadance::drunk:
Tempt me! - What areas do you have on your favorites list? Or any spots on top of the 'to-do' list?

I am on the central California Coast and I am contemplating exploring Oregon or maybe trekking down to Baja... I'm interested to hear about the spots Taco folks have enjoyed.

    Thanks for playing!

(Yes - I have looked - and am still looking though past postings on the topic - There are lots of good ideas, definitely. I'm also looking to maybe connect with folks setting off and maybe join in on some group trips for a day or to along the way if possible.)

Utah is awesome if you want to do some serious off roading. Wyoming and Montana offer some awesome trails/ routes with some of the best scenery in the US. Bit far for you if you don’t want to drive but I’m out there every spring from Virginia for 3 months. Leaving civilization and people behind is the best.

Anywhere out west that gets into high elevations is probably gonna be snowed in until like the middle of June or later so keep that in mind

Indeed. Forgot to mention that. I’m usually out there around second week of May and do all the low ( for the area) routes. Usually by the first of June precluding a late winter( ie april ) snowstorm most passes are open. Wyoming and Montana are awesome about keeping updated info available on closed passes and routes.

Definitely a different kind of winter this year, lower Moab is probably open but Utah is snowy

Here is a good resource if you are heading toward Oregon. As others have said, do be mindful of elevation.

    Thanks for the excellent suggestions.

    Heading North is certainly appealing.
I got my Taco in Easten Oregon. I drove north one way, and took the long way South. I drove by lots of interesting areas which seemed worth spending some time exploring. Beautiful country up there...

I spent time in WA while back as well and I'd love to explore the Olympic peninsula.

Utah is on the list, but I may take the opportinity to hit that with some MTB mates. - I would definitely be worth it!

I am certainly keeping wetness and weather in mind...

That will be a nice trip! How long do you expect to be out? (I like the prioritization of the Pliny supply).

395 also caught my attention. It is on my list.

A different type of adventure planned for tomorrow. Driving the 2008 Scion XD with 165,000 miles to trade her in for a new Corolla Cross - perhaps THE most sought after Toyota!
