That's the external temperature sensor for the display in the overhead console.

I don't have a temperature display anywhere inside the cab, though.

I'll just have to check and see, this weekend. I'll try to remove the current horn and put it back. I'll also find out whether or not it's plug & play for me, when I install your set.

Did you buy your truck new or used? Older 2.7 trucks didn't have it, but Toyota may have prewired new trucks. It's also possible that a previous owner retrofit the external temperature sensor and swapped the console when they traded it in. Also, possibly that the previous owner bought the truck with the option and swapped consoles when the display went out, which is a common problem.

Got it brand new. Hmmmmm... I guess I never needed the temperature display, I never looked for it until you mentioned it.

I have a 2011 Base Access Cab 4 cyl and it has the temp sensor. Also is pre-wired for the Temp/NAV O/H console and rear camera. Pretty sure that's how most trucks came. I put in the rear camera with the rear view mirror display. All the wiring is under the stock O/H console (many write ups on here about it).

I've been reading a few threads and a few mentioned that newer trucks did not come with those amenities. Toyota is probably trying to save a few cents per truck in production cost and charge big bucks for them as optional add-on items.

A lot of trucks came pre-wired for a lot of stuff that it’s not even supposed to come with. My 1998 5-Lug RWD has the connector under the driver’s seat for the rear differential locker - which has no business being on a 5-Lug.

Ive seen trucks pre-wired for things like power windows, cruise control, ABS, etc. Toyota reuses a lot of harnesses.

From a manufacturing standpoint it must be easier to make one standardized harness that every vehicle gets and have all your optional extras just plug in
