    We don’t joke around with sandblasting, we rent an industrial construction air compressor to run our cabinet.

    This 2007 Ingersoll-Rand compressor with 185 CFM of paint busting pressure stands no chance against these horns.

    I was one of the 1st buyers of these horns over a year ago.

    Had to use it today and nothing happened.

    It was working just fine.

    Looked at the fuse and it was popped

    Ok So I got another fuse and put it in and nothing happened.

    Had to take the grill and bumper off GRRRR to inspect things more.

    The purple wire had broken in half (weird)

    So I went to splice the wire and there was literally white dust and the remnants of a few wires in the plastic cover.

    Looks like the purple wire burnt it’s self up from the inside out.

    WTF

    looks like I have to pull everything apart and needs to be rewired with higher grade wires.
    Definitely not happy here.

    Anyone have this issue yet?

    I'd suspect a rat ate thru the wire vs it burning itself from the inside out.

    The purple wire which connects to the factory horn wire is the one that failed but the factory horn wire was just fine that connects. So the wire failed after the connection going to the purple wire, NOT the OEM wires.

    Just the purple wire is faulty? Wrong wire gauge? Or relay?

    I’m thinking it’s the purple wire that not rated at high enough gauge because the
    connected OEM wire is fine.
    Maybe @BartMaster1234 can let me know what’s going on with this kit I got from him.

    I think I figured it out, I just found an old email that he sent me for a free upgrade for a new wiring harness that’s 100 percent copper, mines not 100 percent copper.
    I see this purple wire is not copper or very little copper so I bought my horn set before the updated wiring harness.
    I will email him for the free updated wiring harness.

    John, the harness I sent you was a very very early prototype. You have the first system I ever sold which was a working prototype model. I have since improved the harness drastically, which now have loomed wires and I now use 100% Copper GXL wire as opposed to the Copper Clad Aluminum I used for your set.

    I will be sending you a new harness ASAP.

    I should add that the wire is properly rated for that amount of current and voltage, what happened there appears to be chafing against a metal object which wore away at the wire jacket causing it to short.

    with no metal to touch.
