I am over 40 and this is a thing that never occurred to me. It may be the most preposterous thing I have ever heard related to automotive topics.

I will be 60 next month I have a very capable 05 (rectified) PreRunner I have been moding since I retired in 2012. When it comes to the point when I can not get in or out of my truck I will no longer have fun in life. P.S. I damn near fell out of the truck the other day, just put some sliders on and was looking for the step guess I better have my eyes checked.

28 here, and my recently purchased '13 Reg cab is my first car, let alone truck. not many options for a manual transmission 4x4 out there, and i wanted a bed, so i went with a tacoma over a wrangler.

i had never heard of tacomas having a specific demographic. just seemed like the best truck out there for people who didnt want a huge truck.

67 Years young here. You Don't have to be young to drive a great midsize truck with the looks and longevity of a Tacoma truck. Just smart.

41 here. I've always wanted a Toyota pickup/ Tacoma. When my Nissan pickup died, I decided I had worked hard enough in my life to have the truck I want. Good thing my dream truck was within my means... I'm glad I'm not a pompous ass like the Lexus guy in the original post. I'm very happy with my practical, yet stylish, and affordable Tacoma.

    Ha ha
A lot of people probably drove Toyota pickups when they were young, so it just happens now they driving 2gen. (you know if you bought 1996 that lasted 10 years than you bought 2006 that is still running). So your first Tacoma was purchased when you were in twenties , now you are in forties.

I've never been self conscious about anything I drove. Mostly because I don't care what others think about things like that.

I'm more concerned if they recognize things like character, sense of humor, common sense, work ethic, etc.

Sounds like your gambling mark suffers from low self esteem and tries to bolster himself with brand names.

Thinking like that is sad, but it is a big part of the shallow country we are becoming.

I don't need to be self-conscious about anything in my life post-40, least of all my truck. Which kicks your trucks ass and fuck you for thinkin' otherwise, punk

^^ this is why i asked. Thanks for being honest.

For the record I am 40 and love my Tacoma, don't think it's too "young" for me at all.

"Most" older people tend to downsize so you'd think if an older person wanted a truck they'd look at a midsize.

But there are a lot of older people who are also stuck in their ways who always had full size truck and will continue to buy full size trucks til they croak.

Yeah, here on the edge of "the Old West" traditions die hard. Used to see more 1 tons and duallys in town than small pickups, except among the younger drivers. Toyotas, Datsuns, Mazdas and others all became associated with climbers, rafters and "young punks". My 2016 is known as a "climbers cadillac", while the $55K full-sizes are "cowboy cadillacs". Too many stereotypes, not enough fun. Lighten up people!
