I'm glad to see this thread taking off. Anyone have much luck out at Bartlett lake?

I was out there two weekends ago and a guy reeled in at least a 10lb smallmouth right off the beach.

That would be amazing, but state record smallmouth is about 7-8lbs... probably a largemouth bass.

Caught some nice catfish and plenty of largemouths at Bartlett, haven't caught much recently since the water level is about 60 feet down from where it usually is.

My favorite place to fish in AZ is the forest lakes on the Mogollon rim. Never come back empty handed at Bear Canyon, Knoll, and Woods Canyon.

Had a great time at the ferry. My buddy has a 16' v-hull which we took up River and found a beach to set up camp on. Fished a bunch of runs and had a lot of luck. I was using an indicator at the end of an 8' tapered leader with the fist zebra midge about 5.5' below it and another zebra 10" below that one. I'm new to fly fishing so that much stuff flying around inevitably made for a few tangles, but I did much better than last time. Once the sun broke over the cliffs and it warmed up the bite was on. I got three fish on three casts and missed the hookup on the fourth. Lots of bites.

Here was one of the better ones:

Nice Cannonball, that's what I'm talking about.

Healthy bow right there. Something about the ferrys bows. Reminds me of the bows on the kenai in AK.

    Weekend of 4/25-27. ????

Ice is already off Big lake. Butt arse cold at night now, but by then it should be excellent. Also black river for small steam fishing . I've been up there 5 years in a row turkey hunting and fly fishing and NEVER been disappointed...
WHITE MOUNTAINS LAKES- From March 04,2014

Note: State Highways 261 and 273 are still closed for the winter and are scheduled to open on April 15. All other Forest Roads are snow packed due to last weekend’s snowstorm.
BECKER LAKE – Fishing is good. The lake is ice-free. Spawning trout are beginning to cruise the shallows on the north side near the boat ramp. Becker Lake is open to catch-and-release only, artificial fly and lure only; single barbless hooks only. No trout may be kept.
BIG LAKE – The lake is ice-free. State Highways 261 and 273 are still closed for the winter.
CARNERO LAKE – The lake is partially ice-covered. Forest Roads 117 and 117A are open to the lake.
CLEAR CREEK RESERVOIR – Fishing is fair for sunfish and bullheads. The lake is ice-free.
CONCHO LAKE – Fishing is poor. The lake is ice-free.

CRESCENT LAKE – The lake is ice-free. State Highways 261 and 273 are still closed for the winter.
FOOL HOLLOW LAKE – Fishing is poor to fair. The lake is ice-free.
GREER LAKES – Fishing is fair for carry-over rainbows and wild brown trout. All three of the Greer lakes (River, Tunnel, Bunch) are full and ice-free.

HULSEY LAKE – The lake was drained following the Wallow Fire to help reduce expected flooding on Escudilla Mountain and has not been stocked since the fire in 2011.
LEE VALLEY LAKE – The lake is ice-free. State Highways 261 and 273 are still closed for the winter.
LUNA LAKE – Fishing is fair to good. The lake is ice-free. Anglers have been catching some trout in the 15-18 inch range.

    Some stuff here and there....
Forest lakes are a blast im usually up there too. (Avoiding woods canyon) usually back at bear or knoll. Only been skunked at knoll once cause the storm that rolled in. Big lake is open now and been some 16"8-148" rainbow pulled out off the shore over the last week or so. And silver creek opens april first for keeping your catch although it will be a mad house and more packed than woodland lake usually is. If anyone is up north let me know. My pole is always in my truck .
