Most anything about 1.5" maybe even 2"will work, typical baithook or something. Tear a chovy in half and stick it on. Throw it out and do some casting with your other rod.

I suspect the farther you go from crowded areas the better. Might wanna look at north lake. Good luck

    Reviving this thread.

Went up to Woods canyon Lake over the weekend. Couldnt get anything to bite that wasn't a 3" sunfish. I don't know what G&F has done to this lake in the past 5+ years that lead to this issue, used to never be able to go to that lake and not catch trout. I believe that G&F list those sunfish as invasive for that lake.

Interesting. I haven't even ever seen a sunfish in that lake for over 30 years. But I haven't been there in probably at least 10 years, so maybe it has changed. I always slayed the stock trout there

They can handle a freeze, but they thrive in warmer water

Woods Canyon has been over fished for the past 10 years. I don't think G&F could stock enough trout to bring it back. The crowds up there are out of control, the trash is just disgusting. It is not the G&F it is the users that are destroying that lake and many others.

Tons of interest and not enough lake. Over here in Prescott we have tons of interest and NO lakes. They do allow us to swim in the mud puddles though.

    Stuff.. but not much
I've been to Bartlett 3 or 4 times in the last month or so and I've caught 5-7 large mouth each time. Just fishing from shore. No one has been out there, even on the weekend. It was weird.

Anyone on here into kayak fishing? Itching to get out for trout mostly and then maybe try the bigger lakes for crappie and maybe catfish for fun, but definitely want a way to get away from the shore and especially the crowds of shore fisherman.
Thinking of pedal driven so I can troll and not have to worry about paddling and handling a rod.

I do some kayak fishing for bass. Usually in the little lakes in town. I have one in my neighborhood that allows kayaks and electric motors. I have not tried one of the bigger lakes such as Saguaro or Canyon. Now would be a good time to go without all the crazy boaters that we have in the summer. Pedal driven would make it so much easier. It can be a pain using a paddle and fishing at the same time.

Has anyone hit up Bear Canyon recently? Curious how the stock quality is this year.

You may not be able to get to it right now, I think the gates are still closed on the 300 road. I know people have been fishing Willow Springs but not sure about the results. I will be up in Pinetop this weekend so will probably fish Silver Creek and may hit up a couple of the rez lakes if they are open.
