I'd agree. It's largely being in gear and moving/shock loading. But something to still be conscious of when pulling from the front.

Went out to Horseshoe Dam Sunday to let the dogs swim and test out a kayak. Had a great time even though there is almost no water there.
Got stuck on the way out and had some fun with recovery of both my taco and my buddies 4Runner. Thank goodness for winches and kinetic ropes.

I don't understand what is so difficult for the small minority of you to understand these oh so basic concepts. @mmrocek it was 2 weeks about that we called you out for driving on closed state trust land, and you claimed ignorance. This is just flat out disrespectful. What the fuck is going through your head to look a a freshly green open flood plain and say "Im going to drive my truck straight through that, that seems like a good idea"? Thats a legitimate question. Its thats fucking "Overland" mentality thats going to screw us all.

    AVOID SENSITIVE AREAS
Avoid sensitive areas such as meadows, lake shores, wetlands and streams. Stay on designated routes.

    • Other sensitive habitats to avoid include living desert soils, tundra, and seasonal nesting or breeding areas.
    • Do not disturb historical, archeological or paleontological sites.
    • Avoid “spooking” livestock and wildlife you encounter and keep your distance.
    • Motorized and mechanized vehicles are not allowed in designated Wilderness Areas.

We took a dirt road to the to the water, and why the f* would dry lake beds be off limit if they'll just get filled over time anyways. No dust was kicked out, we were crossing a small part to get to a closer road to get out. For f*'s sake...

I'll even call myself out too for the sake of transparency.

I've posted 2 pictures lately parked at the waters edge with the awning open. Neither was in a "sensitive" area.
1st picture was at cove 3 at Butcher Jones, a sandy/rocky non living beach frequently used to beach boats and heavily trafficked. No harm no foul there. The second was at Sheeps Bridge, directly below the designated water crossing, also not sensitive. Sheeps bridge we even checked to make sure we could fit in the space without damaging any foliage or parking in the water. The soil was firm enough to support the weight of the truck and was mostly hard pack non living soil and rock. We were auctually complimented by a NFS ranger for picking an appropriate space while we were there and took 2 nearly full 55g bags of trash home with us from others up river. Again no harm done.

Use common sense people. It goes a long way.

edit for reference: @JTS2016TACO note the time I posted this...

None of these things are things you need to "learn" they are common sense. Do your research BEFORE you go to avoid things like this. I think maybe you and the whole "Phoenix Overland Group" could benefit from a weekend with Bill Burke, or just stick to pavement.

If it's not signed as a route, it's not a legal path for motorized travel.

If you don't have a current copy of the land managment's MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Map), you can only assume you're vehicle can't leave already used main dirt roads/trails. The MVUM will show where motorized dispersed camping is allowed and how far from the road it is allowed. Even then, don't break new ground, use an existing pullout and camp site.

Just a couple months ago, there were thousands of letters sent to the BLM. They released their travel management plan for the Bumble Bee area. Numerous trails and washes were listed as to be closed despite their own environmental studies showing no issues due to limited travel and possible future damage.

Land Managers want the easy way out. The internet is forever. Several members were recently given a month ban for posting a video of pushing a rock over. Stupid happens, but try to avoid it. But for damn certain, don't post stupid so our enemies can find it.

Ok, had a long discussion with the group. We will be rebranding to PPG (Phoenix Pavement Group) until we track this Bill Burke guy down for some schooling. Never stop learning kids!

OK boys, took a couple minutes for the nameservers to update but PhoenixPavementGroup.com is now active!
Now I'll have to learn to drive the speed limit so I don't get yelled at by all those idiots driving slow in the left lane, right? Faaaaack! I guess no more jumping the curb and illegal U turns as well. Damnit!

worse the liberals will probably fight to ban lifted vehicles capable of doing so. Look, Maverick, I was not doing donuts or "mudding" simply trying to get out a different way. I saw the other road that would save us an hour of driving. and we followed a road to get to the spot we were at. and I found the actor you mentioned...
