Went and hoped for an easy fun run of Montana Mountain loop reminds us to never listen to those who want to try a new shortcut....
Without fixing the bumper that is a quick $1000 added to my weekend run last weekend...

do you miss the BSM at all?
Which bumper did you go with?
I have totally thought about going that way but my wife isn’t crazy about cutting out the fenders
So how are the sharp edges?
If you put weight on it do you worry that it’s going to push up to the rest of the metal left behind?
Are you worried at all about rust?
Would you mind sharing pictures of where the bumper meets metal a little more closely.
Is the trailer hitch behind the tag?
Appreciate answering my questions if you don’t mind...

Damn which shortcut was that? I drove through the Hewitt station ohv coming down and that was enough to get new skids but nothing to come close to damaging the rear. Then again I found an early exit about halfway through the lower traverse back to the start point.

No problem man! I'll answer what I can.

do you miss the BSM at all? - Yes, but I'm working on a solution for this. I'll report my findings on my build thread.
Which bumper did you go with? I went with the CBI high clearance.
I have totally thought about going that way but my wife isn’t crazy about cutting out the fenders
So how are the sharp edges? I'm assuming you mean the edges where it was cut? CBI sends an edge molding with the bumper that you put over the sharp metal edges.
If you put weight on it do you worry that it’s going to push up to the rest of the metal left behind? No, It's pretty well reinforced with multiple mount points to the frame.
Are you worried at all about rust? No, we put a coat of paint on the bare metal edges and I live in AZ.
Would you mind sharing pictures of where the bumper meets metal a little more closely. I'll take some more photos of the mounting points today or tomorrow and post them here.
Is the trailer hitch behind the tag? Yes

Hope this helps with your decision! The only down side is that it took 4 months to get it from CBI.

    Definitely helps with the decision
Would love to see more pics of the bumper and whatnot when you have time. My wife rolled her eyes when I told her and I kinda got the whatever look so I think I can make it all work....
Still apprehensive of cutting the fender but the extra pics should help solidify my decision.
The 4 months is gonna suck but it seems everyone has a long ass wait to get nice stuff.

I was in a similar situation. I had always wanted a hi clearance bumper but couldn’t convince my wife I should spend $1,400 and cut up my truck. Once I broke my plastic bumper on a trail I was golden. Mine bumper took 4-1/2 months to receive after ordering it and is at the Powdercoater now for two weeks or so. It will all be worth it once it’s installed.

Yeah, the four month wait really sucks man. Well, it wouldn't have been so bad if they just told me that in the beginning. They First told me 8-10 weeks but after that went by I couldn't get any more real info out of them. Almost felt like I was getting Pelfreyed by @CBI Offroad Fab. Here's a picture of the mount at the front of the rear bumper and the "included" bed support just above it. Mine shipped without the bed supports, and I know other that didn't get them too, but CBI got them out to me surprisingly fast after I called them.

Yeah that definitely is attached to the frame! Reinforces that I made the right decision to go this way. Now to just pick what bumper I want...
Who did you have do the powder coating locally and what did they charge if you don't mind my asking?
