For stealing Christmas presents? In his name - Jesus fucking Christ. And no one is gonna call it like it is? - The cops and judges are dirty if they let this shit happen. It isn't a good thing and it should be chastised and dealt with. We have a system for a reason. Dirty cops and judges giving privelaged info to a citizen for mob justice is morally wrong. And here people are glorifying it. Unbelievable.

Not condoning, but what if the response cost of stealing was chopping off the hand, do you think it would reduce the instances it happens?

Yes let’s take the high road and let thieves do what they want.....lol. This is the reason why criminals are usually repeat offenders.

    Is the truck 4x4?

I was a cop down there. Stolen 4WD vehicles end up in mexico in like 45 minutes. Usually located by Border Patrol some time later... in the desert... torched. They use them to run guns/drugs/illegals across the border through the desert.

Hoping for the best for you! Glad you're safe and healthy. That's all the matter in the end!

For what it’s worth, I posted this in the AZ BS thread. Just to inform more members local to us to keep an eye out. Glad you’re ok. Glad you’re instinct was to run. Even if you were carrying you still did the right thing. That way you could at least find cover if bullets were to fly. Happy that you’re safe. Truck can always be replaced. By the way, here’s the link to the AZ BS thread in case you’re interested.

One of the first things I did when I bought my house. Replaced all the locks and put 3" screws in the front door. At least they'll have to kick more than once. Gives me an extra 2 seconds to reach for my gun if I need it.

3” screws to reinforce the door frame? I remember hearing about this but can’t remember where the screws go.

No in the catch plate for the door latch/bolt. It's usually that location the breaks free first (assuming you have a quality door). My front door is solid wood. So the weak point is the hollow space in the door jamb where the door latch/bolt go. If you get long enough screws you can go through the jamb and into the 2x4 stud behind it. Otherwise where the door latch catches is usually a thin piece of wood with a hollow space behind it.

If you anchor things well enough they either have to break the door, bust the jamb itself, or the lock itself has to fail/break.

    Here's an example:

The trim that covered the wall where the door meets is what keeps the door closed. If kicked or shoulder slammed the door lock itself just rips the trim on the door jamb off. So you want the screws in the catch plates to go through the jamb and into the 2x4 that the jamb is attached to. This makes it a bit harder to kick open. Not impossible, but they'll kick 2-3 times at least.
