armor vs airbags

    BHLM, Flowmaster 50 series, TRD CAI, Hoen all weather fog bulbs, window tint, LED interior lights (cupholder & floor), exterior LED courtesy lights. OME/Dakar lift. 50W reverse lights. Painted wheels.
    I noticed that ARB seems to be the only bumper maker that states "airbag approved" for their front bumpers. Relentless and some others say "offroad only".

    What exactly does it mean to be "airbag approved" and does it really matter?

    Besides airbags, are there other sensors or safety devices that might have reduced effectiveness after installing trail armor (skids, sliders, bumpers, etc)?

    It takes quite a bit to get onroad and SRS certified...Money and time better spent on building bumpers for the little guys.
    You might have sensors that don't work right because of aftermarket modifications, but it's no guarantee one way or the other.

    Grillcraft mx black upper and lower BHLM with Gloss black 265 70 17 bfg a/t center console light mini mag mounted in center console debadged bed lights 35W 5000k HID's
    airbags are activated based on inertia and not being crushed. they will work the same no matter what bumper is on there.

    good to know. thanks guys.
    I've always assumed it was like a limit switch or crush sensor or something in the front bumper for airbags. never thought about inertia.
