    I've heard of them.

    I decided to go with Armor Tech for my rear bumper. I'll post pics when I get it. You can check out his stuff in the vendor section.

    Same here.

    Armorology is more expensive, and you need to have your truck there for the complete time (so like 1-2 weeks). The end product is great, but not worth the trip, time and money (lots of all 3)

    Armor tech ships and has a great product, can't wait to put mine on.

    i have come to learn that these bumpers are not mass produced, but custom made to your rig, so there is no play on them when hit. Also, they can be made to any design you like, you tell him or show him pics of what style youlike and he will make it for you. That kind of custom work is awesome.

    Where are they located?

    colorado....but think of a custom interior sound system, or paint job, nothing custom is shipped out, otherwise its not custom, i really love the fact that i can design it or find things that other peopl eor companies use, mix it up to my own standards (i.e. add an angle here, push this back, make this bigger, add a tab, whatever) and have an one of unique fully functional bumper

    you know my opinion,lol "you get what you pay for" Ive seen (in person) what a TJM will do when it makes contact with a rock, NOT pretty, lol
    and your correct, they will make what "you" want, it will built to your rig, there is NO play at all, he ads a few mounting points, they are ROCK SOLID.
    Im very happy I live close enough to them.

    Mine has pushes rocks, dropped on rocks, even "tried" to move boulders, lol didnt move the boulder, but didnt hurt, bend or even move the bumper, lol when I say they are ROCK solid, I mean they are ROCK solid, lol

    Ive had experianced welders, ask me who made my bumper, they said its the best they have seen, the welds are perfect, the design was great, being that Im not a welder, this comeing from welders I dont know, I take it as a big compliment, some have even called it "artwork" lol Im saving now for both front and rear bumpers :cool:

    "no play at all".. well even if there is no play, the cab will go down on the bumper. so you still need spacing.

    ^^^^i must disagree man, i saw a 4runner literally hung up on a rock hanging only by the bumper n it didnt move,, solid as the frame very impressive, i mean didnt budge

    well most bumpers won't move at all when hanging by the bumper (or sliders)

    but when flexing, the body will move downwards, reducing the gap between your pinch weld and your sldier posts, or in front between your bumper and the metal piece under your headlights

    no matter how solid your bumper is. It won't move a bit from the frame position, but the whole cab will move towards it.

    well Ive seen for myself, that a TJM will move and bend, they will bend into the sheetmetal, headlights and grill.. they are not as thick and have as many mounting points as a custom bumper.
    Im going to gues that your talking about frame flex, but You are correct about frame flex, all frames will flex (move) when the rig is flexed out, which will make it seem like the cab is moving, TJM, ARB and most other bumpers like Shrockworks ect. do not allow for frame flex, most are built with very little room or tolerence to the fenders and headlights.
    I know that Armorology bumpers, DO allow for frame flex, remember this guy not only builds bumpers, but he builds compt. buggies, lol he went to school for design, fab work, lol.
    The mounting holes on most bumpers are drilled bigger than the mounting bolt itself, to allow for the differences in rigs, if the bolt is say a 1/2" in dia. most mounting holes are drilled/made 3/4" for this, and when on a trail, if the bumper taps a rock or tree, it WILL move, not matter how tight you get that bolt, Ive seen it. With Armorology, if the mounting bolt is 1/2" in dia. the mounting hole, is a 1/2" dia.

    I know I cant explain as well as a true custom builder, but what I do know is, if other custom fab guys are saying the Armorology`s stuff, is the BEST they have seen, I take that as a pretty big compliment, I personally know of 3 companies, trying to duplicate his work, There competition has even said that his is the best, the strongest, the most attention to detail, the best welds they have seen.
    No I dont work for them, I LOVE there work, and thats where my money is going. :cool:

    I know exactly what you're talking about (I'm an engineer and also studied as a technician). and you're right a custom built thing will be better in strength for the same fitment (because of tight tolerances).

    I am far from CO so it was not an option for me ;)

    very cool, not that your far from them, lol but maybe you can help explain why something custom, is stronger/better then an "off the shelf" lol

    BTW theres a shop in Canada somewhere that builds awesome stuff, cant remember the name or where exactly they are, Ill look on the other forums (i think it was yotatec) if I find it, Ill send or post the link :cool:

    RicnDenver: you stick to words. You know that if you strength test it, it should be the same given the same parameters/design/welds/material (i.e. if you test resistance to bending, etc) but given that the custom one has no play in where it mounts, there is no chance for it to move unless it shears the bolt.

    And the shop is here in Calgary, it's called Evolution and the guy has work booked for the next 2 years so no way you can get something out of him.

    totally going to resurrect this thread.

    finally got my truck in for a front bumper setup. just as you've read in other threads, armorology does custom work and has a waitlist out at least a year or two depending on the size of the work. i don't need my truck now so jed has it until mid-july. for locals this is fine; however, i looked at his schedule and he also has several vehicles coming in from out of state. if you can afford some cash and some time, you'll get a pretty awesome custom setup.

    i'll update this as i get photos from jed. we're doing a bumper with one large hoop, some bash plates with a cutout for a 20" vision x reflex bar, and a warn zeon 8s.

    *****UPDATE 17JUL13*****
    i went in to discuss the build so far and see if we needed to change anything. i'm really happy with the way it's going. just as other people have stated the tolerances are extremely tight on the build.
    he's building the bash plate on the front and will final weld the wings under the headlights. will probably get around to adding the hoop and the recovery points later today and tomorrow. i have a 20" vision x reflex, 6 spots in middle and 2 floods on each side, going in right beneath the winch and he'll build the plate around that.

    here's the front. any way to black out the warn logo? i hate how it covers up the toyota badge. maybe i can just use a sharpie and scribble it out? hahaha.

    the bolts sticking out are temporary as he needs the bumper in place to do the final welds and adds the wings coming up to the fender. oem fog light wiring will plug into the light bar.

    sorry for the blurry photo. vision x 20" reflex, 6 10-deg spots and 2 35-deg floods on each side. vision x ships light bars with the 10-deg spots or 35-deg floods. if you want a hybrid, they basically build it for you and send it out to their lab to get dunk tested. then it's sent to you so shipping time and price is increased.

    i'll post more photos when it's close to finished or when i pick it up from jed. he's an awesome guy to work with, very mellow, knows his stuff, and i do my best to support local vendors the best i can. he also built my sliders a few years ago and i'm thinking about getting a bumper from him as well.

    F/S soon: bumper and fog lights with bulbs (one nokya yellow is burned out, you'll get the oem bulbs).
