Update on my girl Fiona. Got the softopper from my wife for my birthday/father’s day. Apparently it arrived the same day she ordered it (from boulder to Colorado Springs). I think it makes the truck, just don’t want to Velcro the rear flap to the bed (doesn’t make noise anyways).

Also, on the first drive my dog Hoosier vomited in it. Nice to know we broke it in already.

Got the Tepui mounted on some DIY bars for a small camping trip this week. BAMF bars are taking much longer than was anticipiated.

    Next purchase will be sliders.

I am jealous. I have been looking at that olive green tepui and thinking it would look great with the army green. I was right. Looks awesome!

I knew it was just a matter of time before my first “ding”. Got rear ended today in the drive through mid-order. The good news is that he was going slow and it appears that the only damage is one side of the bumper. While it is painful to see my brand new truck dinged up, it could be something much worse.

Police came and did a report. I’ll call my insurance guy tomorrow. It’s been awhile since I’ve had to deal with insurance.

It's a sign. Time for new armor.

Agreed. We thought we were going to be forced to get one in grey, but she found this last one in stock at REI.

Ouch!!! Fortunately, it should be an easy fix...but getting dinged is never enjoyable.

I would have offered to get the guy to give me $500 bucks and go our separate ways and used a heat gun to push it back out and take that money and put it towards new armor for sure.
    Sad to see this happen.

edit: I had a guy rear end me in my 18 tacoma 24 hours after i pulled off the lot. a tiny scratch on the plastic nothing to make a big deal over. I said give me $50 and we'll go our separate ways... needless to say he said i was trying to pull a fast one on him and he new the chief of police where I live and blah blah blah... So i decided to call the 5-0 on the accident and he ended up going to jail... he had a suspended license.

That corner is right where the BSM sensor is, and it looks pretty far pushed in. I wouldn't take the chance and just get it done right, but to each their own.

Yes, I was thinking about that. With all the tech and the fact that the bumpers are color matched, I had no idea what they would cost to replace. I didn’t want to take advantage of the guy and try to take more cash than it would be to fix, and I also didn’t want to underestimate how much it might take to get it fixed correctly. It does appear that the BSM is working.

I know I've seen an install video on YouTube for one that is compatible with the BSM system, but I can't find it now. They had a hole cut out in each of the corners with plastic covers to allow the BSM sensors to work through it. So there is at least one out there, but I can't recall who makes it. I'm sure if you search on YouTube or TW or make a thread asking, someone will know.

Yeah even if that pops back out and the paint is cracked/chipped (pretty likely), then you'll have to repaint or replace and color match and blend if you want it to still look like new. Also I don't know exactly how the sensor works, but I've seen it and it is encased in plastic. Possible that could have pushed enough in to crack the plastic on the sensor, but the BSM might still work for now, but if cracked then water could get in there and eventually mess it up. Not as easy as just slapping a new bumper on nowadays. I wouldn't take the chance, get it submitted to insurance, have a good shop check it out, and fix/replace stuff as needed. With an impact in the corner like that right where the BSM is, they might replace it as a precaution just in case even if there's no visible damage.

If you were just sitting there in the drive-thru and they drove into you, I don't see how they can find you at-fault for that. Hopefully it will have little to no effect on your insurance premiums. The only pain is the deductible, hopefully you don't have that set too high, but thems the breaks.

The only downside I can see is that it's recorded as an accident on the history.
But if you plan on keeping the truck then that shouldn't be a problem.

Put on the AJT Design black Emblem Overlay. I like it much better than the chrome.

Nice! I was just deciding what color I wanted to go with, black or add a little green.

    Thanks!!
I may do the cement one since it will match a lot of the accents in the truck, though black is very nice... hmmm

Isn't great to have choices and make the truck your own? I just can't get away from my old Army colors of green and black. :infantry:
