Unless things have changed, most medals awarded in the Army are not engraved with the receiver's name. None of mine were. I had heard that Army vets could have them engraved for free - and found out that it's true!

Here is the contact info for the point of contact:

    Tina Derrickson
    Inventory Mgmt Specialist
    Veterans Medals Team - Philadelphia
    CML: 215-737-2502 DSN 442- 2502 FAX-X2549 Toll Free 1-877-827-9026 Option #4 tina.derrickson@us.army.mil

Tina will send you the format for a request. All you need to do is mail back the medal(s) you want engraved. They will engrave them -following a standard engraving format - and mail them back to you.

I mailed the two of mine I wanted to have engraved - my two highest that I want to pass on to my son - on November 24th and got them back today, less than a month later. In fact, not only were they engraved, but they sent back new complete cased medals sets even though I only sent my medals.

It's not often you get service like this for free!

Do you know if it's all services or strictly Army? I don't know why they wouldn't be able to do other services medals but you never know.

I'm pretty sure that they only service Army veterans since it is an Army organization.
