Can mention that this isn't my first Hilux.
I owned a 2011 X-cab in 2011 which i owned for two years before changing to an 07 Audi A4 Avant which i owned along side the D-cab until i sold it in 2016.

When i bought the Hilux, since i had owned one before, i knew what i didnt want to do again to the new one. I was younger when i owned the first one, and did not have that much of experience about working on the car.

I first started off plastidipping all the chrome parts on the car, not a big fan of that:rolleyes:
    upload_2017-9-2_0-57-25.jpg upload_2017-9-2_0-59-4.jpg upload_2017-9-2_0-59-57.jpg

I also took off the side steps as it made the car look lifted:laughing:
    upload_2017-9-2_1-4-15.jpg

I sold the bed roof, as i didn't really needed it and bought a used Truxedo Bed cover second hand instead.
    upload_2017-9-2_1-5-27.jpg

After this i thought about what more i could add to the truck.
Since i had a roll bar on the first Lux, i bought a Safari Rack for this one and mounted a 42" LED bar on it. The same time i installed a ARB Outback Roof console to mount a light switch panel.
    upload_2017-9-2_1-20-43.jpg upload_2017-9-2_1-21-27.jpg upload_2017-9-2_1-21-52.jpg upload_2017-9-2_1-22-19.jpg upload_2017-9-2_1-22-42.jpgupload_2017-9-2_1-24-28.jpgupload_2017-9-2_1-25-21.jpg
    upload_2017-9-2_1-28-29.jpg
    upload_2017-9-2_1-29-3.jpg

I sold the 20" tires set that came with the car. The previous owner thought this baby liked being on-road all the time, hah, i dont think so! Bought 17" steel rims and Cooper STT tires! The same time i ordered the 2" OME lift to have a fit better for the tire set.
    upload_2017-9-2_1-15-45.jpg upload_2017-9-2_1-30-16.jpg upload_2017-9-2_1-31-0.jpg

And here after i installed the leafsprings in the rear:

Here is a picture of the car on Norway's Constitution Day:
    upload_2017-9-2_1-38-14.jpg

Short time after this i sold the front bar and lights as i didnt like the look any more.
I also took the car for a little road trip about 1 hour away from the house:
    upload_2017-9-2_1-44-36.jpg

The next was installing a new headunit and new speakers.
The dealer wanted a huge amount of $ to upgrade the GPS charts:
Kenwood Headunit and Focal Tweeters and front speakers:

Not long after i wanted to upgrade the front, I ended going for the "Satoshi" mod:

While i did the "Satoshi" mod, i also changed out the 42" LED bar to 2x 20" spot bars. The 42" was flood spec, and cast a lot of glare on the bonnet, changing to spot helped a lot on the dark roads.
    upload_2017-9-2_2-11-6.jpg
    upload_2017-9-2_2-11-16.jpg

The next big upgrade was the Safari Snorkel:
    upload_2017-9-2_2-12-44.jpg upload_2017-9-2_2-13-26.jpg
    upload_2017-9-2_2-14-16.jpg

Also installed the Hella Sharptones for a little change of sound:
    upload_2017-9-2_2-15-4.jpg

Bought some covers for the LED bars for the winter time to reduce the reflection from the snow.
    upload_2017-9-2_2-16-40.jpg

Bought even more LED bars that i connect to the original hi-lights and the roof bars are controlled by switch on the ARB roof console
    upload_2017-9-2_2-19-22.jpg

Short after i ordered the Drawtie hitch.
It made the car look better and i have a higher clareance on the rear of the truck:

Earlier this years spring i was able to drive up to a pass that isnt usally open in the winter.
This time the snow had melted enough for trucks to drive through, so had to take a drive:
    upload_2017-9-2_2-27-29.jpg

Whats new this year is that i bought new rims.
Also, with this, I bought a pair of Jungle Fender Flare from Thailand:

The latest update is that i change back to the original flares as i wasnt satisfied by the fit of the the jungle flares.
also that the flares were hanging over the tires didnt add the coolens factor to the car

Latest picture i got from when i was on a weekend trip down to the Oslofjord and visited family.

Not much has happened, but still looking for ideas.
I'm looking in to putting on a roof tent over the bed, either straight on top or on top of a bedrack.

I've got the Truxedo bed cover, so i'm not sure how I should fabricate the bedrack to fit it...
Not so keen on drilling holes on the top edge of the bed

I'm open for ideas around this, even links and images are also welcome :)

Probably doesn’t do you much good besides the idea but some people make bed bars that work alongside a bed cover. Any metal fabrication shop should be able to handle making the brackets

Did some work yesterday and installed it in the truck today.
Before i only had one big box taking up much space for tools and stuff, but now i made a low profile toolbox :)

After searching a while and looking for options for a Bed Rack for the Hilux, I decided that I would try to make my own. Getting the ones you have in the US over to Norway is a little to expensive for me.

A friend of mine will make the brackets for me.
Will be using Thule Square-bars as crossbars.

Will also buy a RTT for the car.

Hope everything goes as planned for the coming weeks. :)

    The idea I've drawn down:

A smal update from last night

    f26bb589d085102d24b458bbdbe1412a_85dd780154cb3d842238488549c7f1a5990f7bb3.jpg

Will scuff them down a little and will be painting them matte black.
Have also ordered Thule squarebars, two on 150cm and two on 135cm.

Cant wait to get the RTT on the truck!

The roofrack should be arriving soon also :D

Did some minor work on the truck today.

Removed the sponsor lettering on the sides and washed her, still waiting for the roofrack to be delivered, crossing my fingers that it will arrive the coming week:rolleyes:

Aired out the tent and put in the bungiecords that helps when folding the tent, hopefully there will be time to use it in the easterholidays the coming week. Still havent gotten the roofrack as there were some problem with shipping documents, hope it doesnt take too long before it arrives...
