That was another one of my potential issues to look at. I have a Jet flow pump which I assume regulates the water flow but previously I was drawing the water up from a jerry can. I now have a tank with my hose at the bottom (28 gallons) and it could be with some additional pressure pumping the water through faster which would account for it not heating to the temp that I want it. What you think???

That is a good possiiblity. Before you were pumping water at 3' up to the heater. Now you are pumping it maybe 18" mostly flat. the pump probably working more efficiently. You might want to look at hanging the heater outside the trailer when in use, for the exhaust and heat that is produced when in use.

Well still a no go on the hot water. Got lukewarm but not hot like it was before. Plan to call EcoTemp but have heard their customer service is horrendous.

What color of Wet Okoles did you end up going with? #28 Dark Kelly Green? I'm thinking of going with green but I want something a little darker than what you've done. Something like Oliver Green.

    New Mods to the Truck

    400 Watt All the Time

    Remove the console.

    400 Watt - 1.jpg

Basically short the wire. You can find better details on some other postings.

    400 Watt - 2.jpg

    New outlet installed in console.

    400 Watt - 3.jpg

    CB Install

Remove the console (think we did this before a few times) and cut out a slot (I cut too much off the bottom to my chagrin and ended up using duct tape to seal it up). I used to have the Midland 75-822 40 Channel CB-Way Radio but did not get the range I wanted and was a pain to use sometimes. Also tended to get hot. So I purchased the Uniden 40-Channel CB Radio (PRO510XL) based on its size fit into the console.

The cut so CB would fit.

    CB Install -1.jpg

Put the bracket in the top.

    CB Install -3.jpg

Good to go. Much better reception/transmission. The fan is on the bottom of the CB so has better cooling.

    CB Install -4.jpg

    VIPMOTOZ HID Headlights

Always wanted these and it was a great buy at just over $300. Much better lights than stock. Had to remove my dual battery system to get to remove the headlight on the driver’s side and install the new one which is always a bit of a pain but pretty much got it down now.

    Headlights 2.jpg
    New Socks, Shoes and Coils

Old tires were not going to cut it for Moab so time for big tires for the truck (finally). Also added 700lb coils instead of the 600lbs.

Five (gotta have one for the spare on the back to make it look right) Icon Vehicle Dynamics 17" Satin Black Machined rims and five 285/70/R17's Falken Wildpeak AT3 tires. TacoAlaMode assisted a lot in the choice and helping me learn all about backspacing and options. Very happy with these. Not in the picture is the swing gate which I had modified for the spare tire at my local welders.

    SSC-1.jpg

    IMG_0002.jpg

    Gas mileage suffered accordingly!!!!

Learned how to take the tires off and install the new rims at the hobby shop. Old rims went to Ebay and were gone very quickly.

    New coil springs.

    SSC-3.jpg
Not a lot of road noise from the tires and well needed addition for the lift and everything else I had already put in place on the truck. Performed great in Moab.

Dirt Kings, Total Chaos Gussets and Ready Lift Tie Rods

Lot of work went into this, especially for the gussets. Much of this was decided after our trip to Moab. Truck sat up on stands for a few weeks while I sorted everything out and did the installs.

    IMG_0004.jpg

Flattened stock gussets doing an alignment for new tires but Jonathon at the base hobby shop did a great job pulling the alignment in place with a come-along strap and then locking them down. Of course I managed to knock it out of alignment on the Moab trip (steering wheel shift made that real apparent) so got the Total Chaos gussets. They work great although I don’t know why they don’t weld the tabs on the backing to start with.

Used an air hammer to get off the old gussets and was not too tough a job. My buddy Gary welded on the new ones and then the rattle can treatment was applied. New alignment was much easier and these are not going to bend over when the torque is needed. A must if you want big tires and a decent alignment that hopefully won’t shift on you.

    DKIN-1.jpg

Decided I wanted some lower control arms with polymer bushings. Total Chaos was a tad expensive and there are some other alterations required that I didn’t want to deal with. These were easy to install and they have grease zircs to lubricate them. They are much beefier and no squeaks at all.

    DKIN-5.jpg

Next were the Ready Lift Tie Rods. Did a lot of research on these and they are horrendously expensive. Only ones out there though. After install and I am really pleased with the way it handles. Responsive as heck although you better pay closer attention as just a bit of movement on the steering wheel results in tracking one way or the other. Much harder to have a meal in the truck and smoke a cig at the same time as you have to pay a lot more attention. That said, I really like them. Of note, when I got these there were issues with the parts. Nuts did not fit the heim spindles and I ended up getting a replacement kit from Amazon which was part of the long time on jack stands. Also used my old boot from the other tie rods to prevent dirt and dust accumulating inside. A little trimming and they fit just right.

    DKIN-2.jpg

    DKIN-3.jpg

    DKIN-4.jpg

Finally!!! Will get another chance to see how everything works out including the trailer. Off for an elk hunt in Colorado (3-4 glorious weeks off). Plan to do quite a bit of riding while scouting before the hunt starts and already got a camp site picked out in the boonies. Probably not a lot of serious trail riding but sure it will be fun none the less.

    Gentex Mirror installed.

Really missed the temp display, compass and Homelink from my 2007 2WD Tacoma. Got a Gentex mirror from Bob's Mirrors and install was pretty simple. Did have to send a quick Email asking about polarity of connecting wires but he responded quickly and finished the install. A mod I really like although Tacoma should have included the same mirrors on their latest vehicles. They had a high failure rate and think it was trying to tie in the mirror with the temp gauge monitoring the radiator at the same time. Pictures show the new mirror and once I get my ScanGauge back with updated firmware it will be remounted also.

Added an aFe cold air intake and throttle spacer. Hoping for a bit better gas mileage and will update after a few tanks of gas.

Still there. Fit inside engine bay without any issues. aFe also fixed past issue they had with cover not going on completely (only one screw would fit). Cover goes on without any issues now. Not expecting miracles but hoping for some improvement. Still running first tank of gas and waiting to see results. Watching my ScanGauge and seems be doing better but need a few tanks through it before I really can evaluate results.
