I was reading last week that Tacoma Buyers are 75% previous Tacoma Owners, Toyota really should be careful with how they address issues and handle customer complaints so they do not lose any loyal customers.

    Well here's my $.02.

Torquenews BLOWS. If they cared to report accurately they would have taken the time to understand how CR collects data and how it's then turned into the info the public reads.

CR has for years explained their methodology yet the author(s) of the linked story claim CR doesn't clarify. WTF kind of reporting is that?

I don't have the same concerns or objectives as the testers at CR seem to have so for my use I throw out that portion. As far as reliabilty it's raw data compiled from people who own the vehicles in question. It's a fairly large sample group so should be half ass accurate.

I get it, I've owned a bunch of Toyotas and several Tacomas. Hell I own 2 now. But just like the BMW & F250 I owned a few years ago I could at least admit they weren't perfect. I bought them anyway, because they both fit what I wanted and I don't & didn't feel the need to have my decision justified, right or wrong, by a magazine.

Torquenews VS CR? In my book CR wins in this case. At least CR explain why they arrive at their choice and you can pick the parts important to you and take or leave the rest. Even more important they don't slander and liable themselves because of their own ignorance like torque"news" did in this case.

This is true tho a lot of people have brand / model loyalty (I have ZERO). I'm guessing some of those who choose to leave Tacoma will stay in a Toyota.

If the review from Xx source is positive it's a great honest review. If the report is highly critical from Xx source, the source is bogus and the review is inaccurate. That sums up the reception of criticism and reviews here.

Pretty much but it is TACOMAworld. Not everyone wants to admit they may not have the best or that they may have made an emotional choice that isn't backed by statistics.

Overall statistics are in favor of Toyota Tacoma brand.

    Which people bank on.

I suppose that if you cut out the third gen and have it stand alone, the stats might be less favorable.

It's the fundamental difference in which I judge vehicles vs theirs.

They are a great source if you view vehicles as purely transportation devices that can be measured imperially. But I don't see cars as a bucket of bolts attached to 4 wheels.

You're exactly right IMO. I'd guess whatever the vast majority of the TW population purchased is more than exactly what they had to have to survive in their current living condition. I know mine is.

I don't have an auto so the drivability concerns are not an issue. As for their criticisms of handling, road manners and noise, I mean it's a truck for Christ sake. If that was an area of concern I'd bought a car. I want to go camping and haul my dogs around.

To be fair they've always shit on tacomas. That doesn't stop them from outselling everything else in competition.
