What do you mean "i just wanna upgrade suspension"? Are you talking about lift, ride, or towing ability?

Well I called a local dealer and the truck is going in this sat to get looked at. Hope I'm coming home with a new suspension setup. I might have to load her up for the rest of the week just to make it sag a little more for sat. I'll report back to see how it goes

You have got to be kidding me right? I've been reading TSB threads for months now because people complaining about how soft the springs are and bottoming out with load. I never heard about the TSB in the link you posted. As I read it people are complaining about the harsh ride from the rear springs now as well and getting a new spring pack for TRD equipped trucks?

    Ok so which is it?
    1. Soft springs and bottoming out so the leafs are increased from 3 - 4 to add stiffness and better load handling ability....

    or

    2. The ride is to stiff so the springs are replaces to make the ride a little softer? Umm ok so what does that do to load handling ability.

I'm surprised that Toyota is addressing this at all as it seems complaints are coming from both ends of the spectrum.. too stiff or too soft. Which is it?

Sorry had to voice something as this whole TSB spring thing seems to have gotten out of hand completely on multiple forums. I never had much of an issue with sag even with almost 700# of trailer tongue attached to my hitch. Seems like people hit the forums then automatically think they need the TSB when in fact they may have never have noticed anything before. I will admit, I did add the roadmaster active syspension to my mix though (w/o doing the TSB) and it improved the ride when towing (not as much bounce when the trailer hit bumps) and did very little to my unloaded ride.

Both, actually. The stock springs go into a flat or slightly negative arch causing a "harsh" ride condition. In this condition they are only a couple of inches away from the bump stops. Some have refered to it as being to "soft" as the springs have not supported the load, thus hitting the bump stops. The new springs are more than just an aditional leaf added to the pack. The spring rate has been completely changed. I noticed that with the new springs, the ride was much softer than the stock springs, but when loaded ( with my boat, gear, and refreshments) it only sags about 1 1/2". Much better ride, and quite frankly, what I feel I paid for. :)

i go on sports fishing boats...i just so happen to work at the smart n final where the majority of the local sports fishing boats buy their food for their trips

i know one of the owners and he gets me and my gf on his boat for free including free tackle since i havent invested in any yet...prices of gas have gone up obviously and so did fishing it used to be 80 not its 90

so me and my girlfriend say like 180 not including tackle

Nope, the opposite. If you see 3, then you need the upgrade to 4

It never hurts to ask. They can only say no and you'll be right where you are now. As for where, you go to the Toyota dealer. They told me they would check it out. I also left the truck for them over the weekend (I was travelling so I dropped it off on Thursday and picked it up the following Monday). I suspect if the work load is light, they'd be more willing to do it since they get reimbursed through Toyota. A weekday would probably be best since their workload is probably lighter (Tuesday or Wednesday).

It probably helps if your truck actually has bottomed out. It didn't take much for mine to bottom out. There's a dirt area where most of the trucks park where I work. You have to drive over a curb and over time the dirt side wore a nice little ditch. My truck would bottom out going over the curb so I think it probably marked up the stops.

I took mine in a couple months ago and had the rear springs done, it didn't need it but, I didn't want to have to pay to have it done later when it wasn't covered. Told them it bottomed out with 250lbs. in the back and I wanted the TSB done. The truck is a 2006 with 53,000 miles on it. It has an aftermarket extended warranty on it the work was covered in full, no hassle, no questions asked.

So I took "TIMMERS" advice. I loaded up my GSXR 1000 weighing in at about 350lbs or so. Right off I could tell the suspension could not handle this very well. Just sitting there it was sagging badly driving it is another story.

I had some extra time and took it to the local dealer today to get looked at. They put it up on the lift and ho hummed with it for a bout 30 min. The service woman then began to tell me that I had all the signs and symptons of the TSB for the 05-07, but since mine is an '08 that it was not included. She explained that the new trucks had the problem taken care of with a new spring design. Clearly it has not been taken care of because I have the same setup that my friend with an '06 had before he got his TSB updated with a four leaf spring pack.

This makes no sense. Why are the '08's not included in this TSB. The truck is rated to hold or carry 1000lbs with a driver and passenger included. The suspension could hardly deal with 350lbs how could it handle 1000lbs. Then the service woman goes on to tell me I should look into getting stiffer springs installed. I kept my cool but was alittle frustrated so I took everything they told me with a grain of salt and walked out.

On the phone I went and called toyota customer experience right after walking out. I Went through a whole ordeal with this guy about it and finnally was able to get a case number and was told a service manager would be callig me. Well no phone call ever happened. Now what? I'm calling tommorow to see whats up but proablly will not get anyone till mon. What a pain in the ass. I'm supposed to be traveling to bike week in NH and do not want to put my bike in the truck if its going to be bouncing around the whole ride due to the suspension bottoming out. Sorry to rant just wanted to let my experience be known.

A call back the same day would be rare, he/she has probably 50-75 calls to make that are ahead of you; 2-4 business days would be normal. Then a few days for the dealer to order parts (if you get approved) and get them in, then anything from same day to 2-4 days for the dealer to schedule you according to workload already scheduled or at dealer. Might as well load up truck as far forward in the bed as possible and head on over and enjoy the bikes, then worry about this when you get back.
