I think people try to sell them on Ebay, but it's probably frowned upon, like spoofing. It would require giving away the username/log-in and password. Don't think there is any other way to do it. Level 40 also isn't that impressive anymore as they increased the cap to 50 and made it really easy for people to jump to 40 in Dec. last year so probably not much value for someone to buy it, unless he has an impressive amount of rare shiny or 100IV 'mons...

 

How far away is he? They randomly increase the trade distance...
