Yeah man good news I actually got it running today finally after 3 weeks. I'll do a full write up 2morrow with some pictures of it. Sorry for not updating you guys on the bike. It's been a roller coaster trying to get it running properly.

Good to hear... Im 100% self taught, but have picked up ALOT over the past 9-10 years or so of buiding M/Cs... Just got business license this year and am now building / restoring bikes full time. Not that I will always be of help, but if you ever have any questions or just could use second perspective feel free to tag me here or send PM.

Patience is one thing, ambition is another, and motivation another. I have come to find that many times those will run out, but discipline is a good replacement, and its always worth it when you finally get the ride the bike again.

Nice! Same here I also taught myself; I would go look it up on YouTube or ask around on the old Honda forums. I thinking about doing this as a little side business too. Flipping bikes seems pretty fun so far even though you have your ups and downs. Yeah definitely if I have some questions I'll ask you. In fact I have one questions now lol. Did you ever run air pods on older Hondas before?

Never done a Honda with pods... did an early carbed gsxr, and a couple 70s kawis, few bmws, and couple ducs with pods... I have really been trying to move away from the jap bikes.

What's your question? Any pics of your previous builds?

My question was that if I wanted to run pods would I have to get bigger jets in the carbs?

Alright guys sorry for not updating yall on the bike. So the first thing I had to do was get a new battery. I bought the battery and installed it tried to see if turn over. it didn't, then I took the carbs apart and of course I should have already known that they were clogged up with all of the ethanol build up. So I cleaned and see if it worked and that didn't work. So then I looked up a rebuild kit for and they were going for $55 but I also looked up the whole carburetor and I found brand new ones for $80. So I just ended up ordering new one and later on I'll order a rebuild kit and restore the original carbs to sell them.
After I put the carbs back on the motor I got it to crank and it ran but only one cylinder. :annoyed: So the first thing that came to my head was "oh the spark plugs must be bad". I replace both of them right; I turn it back on and still same problem. :frusty: . This is my first motorcycle I ever worked on so this was a new learning experience. I see why they tell new riders to not to build a cafe racer as your first bike because you'll spend more time working on it than riding it lol. I was just pissed like why don't you just start so I can ride! So then I just took a break for about a week from it because I couldn't deal with it. I started to do some research on the bike and asking around on the old Honda forums. Some people said that my ignition coils are most likely bad and it turns out that they were right! I ordered the coils on Ebay; Ebay is the best place to find parts for old bikes. I got them installed and :amen: it finally it started properly. Tuning the carbs wasn't too bad; it still run a little rich but that fine. At least I got the damn thing running. This small 175cc can haul some ass. I'm not a light guy and this thing was pull me like it wasn't nothing. Also it revs up 11k, I got it up to 7k and it scared the shit out of me.

What I have done and the cost:
    • Acid Battery $35
    • New Carburetors $80
    • New Gas Lines $20
    • New Fuel Filters $10
    • NGK Spark Plugs $10
    • New Ignition Coils $30
    Total Investment So Far: $185

Each bike will react differently to Pods... Alot of it depends on how restrictive the stock airbox is.. If you want to run them the easiest way is to put them on and see how it is running and make sure your not going to lean.

my stocks ones are pretty restrictive. The only reason I want to convert to pods is because they stop producing stock style airboxs and the people that are selling good condition airboxs are selling for $80.

Hey everyone so I bought another bike to work on. Its a 1975 Honda CB550 that I picked up not running. Did the basic things to get it running like carb clean spark plug change and cleaning the airpods. Now this bike was kinda rough, it wasn't like my first bike that was mint. This has rust everywhere and turns out this bike was from New Jersey which most likely is the reason why. My plans for this bike is to go for a rat rod/mad max look to it. Oh also I ran into the famous @Alfuh haha. Its pretty much how I want my truck to look like lol.

After I got it running I went ahead and cut the back end off of the frame and had a good friend of mine that owns a custom fab shop weld a frame hoop which pretty much allows me to install a cafe racer/brat seat.

After that I had order a custom 4 into 1 exhaust with a slash cut tip on it and that thing and sounds badass! Also I had wrapped it in titanium heat wrap it gives it an extra 15hp haha.
