    you are correct i just found this

    In Canada, hunting law prohibits the use of handguns, and it is illegal to own or purchase a handgun for the purpose of hunting. Handgun hunting, even when using a licensed firearm, is punishable under Canadian law.

    They are allowed to hunt/fish outside of designated seasons, but they still have rules that they must adhere to as well.

    Your also wrong, and you have no idea what your talking about. Handguns in Canada can be owned for 2 reasons legally, target shooting, and collecting. There are exceptions for defense of life from animals in remote areas, but I've never heard of a permit being issued.
    EDIT***I noticed a few posts down there was a correction.
    Pet peeve- people who speak on topics they really don't know anything about. Renders any discussion pointless.

    Sort of. I have gone fishing with the powder of 10 M80's in a film canister and did quite well.

    When I was over seas we would fish with concussion grenades and did real well. ;)
