Technically they are illegal. The only ones that are legal are stock ones that come on BMWs etc. If it is aftermarket, then not allowed. That is why I won't do the HID upgrade to 6000, not worth the risk of grabbing their attention.
Also, if your plates are NOT from BC, you will be ok.

I was actually referring to blue tinted fogs and blue lighting inside the cab. Apparently it simulates law enforcement and is illegal.

Perhaps the difference in enforcement levels you see stems from the Municipal police forces in the Lower Mainland and the rest of us being under RCMP jurisdiction ?

Oh and one more thing, if you are doing the drive from Alberta, turn OFF your laser jammers. They will take your car and formally charge you. A good radar detector and being a follow vehicle on the straight stretches will keep you from being pulled over. There are some slow speed regions with radar every few miles. Flow of traffic is usually 10 km above the speed limit, but they will pull you over often if you are between 5-10 km over. Happened to my uncle in his ugly pontiac.

Interesting because of all the examples you listed , the only ones I would agree are enforced is the blacked out taillights , deep window tint , and in some municipalities excess noise such as the train horn and stereo amp .

Ya ive only seen enforcement on tinted windows and tires sticking past fenders. I mean its probly different depending on your location and the strictness of the officer. Also DOT road blocks might give you a hard time.

You may want to check into that site as it does not list Nova Scotia as a province where they are illegal, and they are. This is from the RCMP website for NS. I also looked at BC, and it seems they are legal... but if used to counter a speed measurement, they are then illegal.

You are absolutely correct here. Please re-read my post people. LASER JAMMERS. They are not illegal to have in your possession. You cannot turn them on though, if you do you are obstructing an officer and subject to arrest and car impoundment.
Radar/laser detectors- go for it. They won't help you much though when you get shot by the laser and you are leading the pack.

Also, radar detectors are legal in BC, Alberta, and Sask. Not sure about manitoba.
