    It is definitely the case. The minimum is different depending on whether one can earn tips. Wait staff are supposed to report their tips since the law mandates that if they do not hit the 'regular' minimum, the employer is supposed to make up the difference. Functionally, though, most people who don't make significantly over the minimum in the field wind up looking for employment elsewhere.

    why is it that the canadian branch of my wife's company can't handle Canada? If the Canadians can't do the work on their own, why don't they either close the Canada branch or hire more Canadians? Instead I have to pay international rates on my cell phone so she can use company email...better believe we are expensing that to the company.

    Also, why are there international rates in Canada when it's the same continent?
