    At least in Ontario, the slang also extends to the weekend that a lot of beer is consumed.

    ie. "Gonna grab a couple 2-4's and head up on to the cottage for the May 2-4 weekend.".

    May 2-4 weekend, doesn't always fall on the 24th of May, but it's traditionally the long weekend closest to Queen Victoria's birthday on the 24th that's usually celebrated with lots of suds, often the cottage-opener event for the summer.

    Or at least it was in my day. I killed off a LOT of brain and liver cells with that combination of 2-4 in my 20's/30's..
