    Gone over the Top for a 5-lug..
    Depends on the procedure/diagnostics/specialist required and wait-times, and also depends on the Province.

    IE. I am recovering from hip replacement surgery .. from booking date, to date of surgery - 4+ months. Since then, Premier McSquinty has slashed funding for hip and knee replacement procedures due to the current economic deficit/funding crunch in 'have-not' Ontario.

    Guess how happy that makes me, with 1 hip yet to go, and an uncertain date of surgery for the future.

    On one hand, it's great that our health care system is so comprehensive, but it IS coming out of our own pocket in the form of high taxes and surcharges after all. There is nothing free about it. There is certainly a lot of room for improvement - from the top down, rather than at the front-line..

    Thats why we have health insurance. Most all companies offer it as an incentive to the employees.

    Considering the overall surgical/health-care costing is valued at about $75,000-$120,000 depending on complexity and complications, i'd say that my budget wouldn't be up to that. Remember, we don't need 'private health care insurance' in the same sense that the US citizen does, to cover us off in lieu of our provincial systems in place, paid by taxes. If done in the US, it would be out of pocket.
