Actually, depending where you are quite a few Paramedic Units (mobile life, Care 1, Regional (near me )) will hire EMT's and ocassionally some Vol. EMS corps. will hire EMT's for day crews, but you just gotta look around and see what options are open around you

I get to wear ski pants, ski jacket, helmet, goggle, ski gloves, either my backpack or my rescue vest depending on how I feel. Not a medic, ski patroller. Not saying that ski patrol is like being an EMT or medic, but when you are back boarding someone with all that gear on it sure gets warm.

I love it, though I make just enough money to survive. It is by far the best job I ever had, also the hardest at points. I wish I could make a career out of it. Forgot to mention I am one of 3 paid patrollers at my mountain the others are all volunteer.

I wish my experience in the OR was that good. I had to deal with the same ego-ed up anesthesiologists who didn't want to bother with a student. I had one who actually taught me some shit...and got one tube there.

I had 3 total tubes in medic school...two in the OR, and one in the field on a 911 call.

You feel like a celebrity when you get a field tube around here...becuase with how developed we are here (transport times like 5 mins) intubations are few and far between. And in codes we use combitubes. The only reason why I got that tube was because the guy was GCS of 3, snoring respirations, and 25 minute transport time.

STUDY THEM DRUGS!!! Keep on top of them or you will get behind!

    Dear Dispatch,

There's nothing "Routine" about an 23:30 unscheduled transfer between municipalities.
