    Fixed your statement.

"Make sure you have your ID and insurance info please" said the fire captain

Patient "I dont need insurance cards the government pays me monthly and the government pays that too"

My partner says, " well in that case, my taxes are paying for it"

Patient says "NO the government pays for it. Why do I have to work when I get to live for free"

Captain says "where do you think the government gets the money?!?!"

Patient says ".......... AH I dont know the bank?!?!?! I don't know about that because I don't have to pay taxes! JUST GIVE ME A RIDE, MY FOOT HAS BEEN HURTING BECAUSE I STUBBED IT TWO WEEKS AGO!!"

Needless to say we told her she was going to the waiting room because it isn't an emergency. she then told us that was wrong because you go first to the head of the line if you called 911..

In the end she was livid about going to the waiting room.

10 hours later I show up at the hospital and rolled another patient Into the waiting room and she was still there.... waiting ......

I carry a CAT, I have saw some bad mistakes with axes out in the woods where it took some time to get out. I would rather loose some fingers and get a new nick name than loose blood if i hit an artery and go into shock.

I am a EMT-B but not working in that field, I took the class looking for a different direction in my job. I am glad I took it. I spend a lot of time in the bush and glad I have the skills if something bad goes down. I have looked into wilderness medicine classes out here and just like anything eles it's a matter of time and money. One cool class I got to attend is a Tactical responders class. Learned tons of cool stuff but a majority was out of my scope. Cric, IO, chest decomp excetra. Lot of the class is geared to neumothorax.

Most ridiculous call running code 3 to a call of a guy who was bit on his finger from feeding a squirle. Nice to see this section in a forum.

Need to vent. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T CALL 911 IF ALL YOU NEED ARE VITAMINS. It's not my fault that you can't afford $14 prenatal pills. Shit is going to get real when that baby comes out and you HAVE to buy diapers. Fuck

    Ok done

    - What's wrong?

I've been puking for 2 weeks

    - Are you taking anything?

    Yes, I was taking Zofran

    - Was?

    - yeah I ran out yesterday, I went to the clinic across the street ans they wouldn't take my insurance (state run)
    - I also just found out I was 3 months pregnant a couple days ago.

    - okay, what else

    - I've been using heroin for the past 6 months and quit yesterday

    (Great mom if the year)

    - so you want a rise to the hospital to refill your Zofran?

Yeah that's the logical choice in my situation

    - okay climb in

She was out of the waiting room and the hospital within the hour

Everything y'all describe here is what I had to deal with when we did 911 for the county. I don't miss that drama but I do miss when we got real emergencies out in BFE. Now the only 911s I respond to are on military establishments. Sometimes they are really good and others are crap. Last week had female who got stung on her tongue by a bee with Hx of severe reactions to bee stings. She self administered an epipen but didn't help much so she got Benadryl IV and solumedrol. She felt much better! :D

We had a guy who got bit by a spider 3 weeks ago. And has been taking a set of needle nose pilers to his leg "trying to pop the pimple".

Now his leg is all infected and hurts and he wonders why

I wonder if his spider bite is actually a spider bite or if its good old fashioned mrsa.

People, including docs and medical professionals have come to blame the lowly spider for the vast majority of skin boils that are really just mrsa and have nothing to do with a bite at all

    sounds like a good call.

what criteria did you use to call the TA? Or was it just MOI/medic discretion?

    (just curious)

MOI/discretion even though its not so much valid to go with discretion anymore. just one of those calls where u feel like ya... this guys fucked up lol. i really think they need to broaden the trauma criteria...

but we also had unknown down time, he was unsure if he had lost consciousness or not. it was the walmart distribution center and the person moving the trailer had no idea there was anyone there so he sets the trailer and peaces... so we pull in and no one knows where he is. we r just driving through rows of trailers looking for a body. he called his dispatcher and they called 911. we were the first ones to find him.
