Long Distance. Ugg. I don't miss doing those. Couple months ago they were asking for a crew to leave Portland, drive down to Florence to pick up the pt (about a 5 hour drive) then drive the pt up to Vancouver BC. Then return to Portland. BC is all of a 6-7 hour drive from Portland.

If anyone needs to practice IVs they can do so on me this morning. To many drinks for too little paramedic students.

Dumbass. Everyone knows you start the IV the night before to get your fluids in before you dehydrate and slosh the formaldehyde around from all the alcohol you were drinking.

How many hours is your 'Medic class? I swear I was one of the only people in my class that DIDN'T study every night. I was working as an EMT on a system car though while going to school so I was lucky to get book/real world knowledge every day

7 hours a day 50 weeks long. into ph balance and pathophysiology right now and Pt assessment/airways in labs right now.

On another note family member is in hospital right now bp 300/? last week
high 200s systolic today(don't know full details 3rd hand knowledge), hearts fine, docs suspect renal or hormonal, would that have to do with the Renin–angiotensin system? maybe to much renin, or Ace? what could cause that high bp? no s/s other than redness in the face.

edit: I also notice he breaths deep but regular quantity and regular rhythm

I ate shit so bad today on my dirtbike. Fell so damn hard in the dirt, my left arm / elbow dug into my ribs. First thing I thought was I broke a few, I physically could not take a breathe, felt like I was being suffocated with no oxygen in the air. I stayed calm and hunched down until I was able to get a good breath in but oh man did it hurt. I felt no crepitus but I'm sure I contused the hell outta them. All the pain and soreness now is right around the heart area. Sucks to move around.
