    Help!!!
So, I had a significant leak at the tub spout, and and ended up changing out the shower cartridge myself because it's pretty simple. It was still leaking, so I ended up calling my plumber who came out and diagnosed it as a bad pressure regulator. He changed that out, I need this to say the tub will still leaking. He ended up changing out the balance control inside the shower valve which seemed to stop the leak.

Of course, after he left my shower no longer has hot water, and the handle only turns to the right.

The plumber can't make it back until tomorrow, and I really need the hot water tonight. I know he put the cartridge in upside down, but is there a way for me to adjust it myself without a tool? With the original one I installed, it went in perfectly and it was just three screws and there was no need for any adjustments.

For reference, this is an American standard single handle shower valve.

Is this thread still active? Have a question about my annoying shower, again.
A few months ago I had a plumber change out the cartridge and I believe the mixing valve because there was a pretty significant leak from the tub spout. Ever since he changed it, I cannot get a"warm" shower temperature, it's either scalding hot or ice cold, and moving the valve one way or the other does pretty much nothing. It's a single handle American standard valve.

One thing to note, when the plumber left he messed up the handle position, so I fixed the red dial myself and lined it up to the proper position. Could moving that dial have done anything to the mixing valve?
I'm also 99% sure it was a brand new mixing valve put in just a few months ago so what are the chances it was bad right out of the package?

    Pictures?
Typically with single handle cartridge mixing valves, the only possible mistakes are putting the cartridge in upside down and adjustment of the limit stop.

By the limit stop, do you mean the little red ring? I strongly believe I adjusted that incorrectly, but aside from the water temp, it seems to be working fine. Thanks btw.

No idea without pictures what you mean by "little red ring" it's not like all shower valves have a little red ring.
A limit stop is often an indexed piece of plastic that limits how far you can turn the handle to hot to prevent scalding.

Yes, that is what I am talking about, sorry. The plumber originally left it in the wrong position so that the handle would not sit straight and only had cold water. I centered it myself to the proper position, so I don't believe that's what's causing the issue but it's very possible.

Yesterday I called the plumber that installed it, and he says he thinks it's my shower head, which is a waterpik brand handheld

The shower head is going to have zero effect on water temperature but ok
You may want to find another plumber based on your story

Its been a while since the last post buuuuuut someone might know the answer... Insurance did an inspection and said that we needed to replace the supply lines to our kitchen sink otherwise they were going to cancel our policy... I went to replace them, found a fitting that I hadn't seen before on my other sinks and she didn't want to turn very easily. I took a picture and sent it to a HVAC tech that does some plumbing on the side and he said that these were pressed together so in order to replace the lines, I need to replace the faucet. is that a thing that we're doing now? to sell more faucets? I'll attach a picture. it looks like I "should" be able to thread it off but I didn't want to put too much pressure on the copper lines unless I was sure. I'm referring to the female copper fittings onto the male braided lines. Thanks in advance.

the far right one? You can unthread that one, just need to put a backup wrench so you wont twist off the male and break the copper line above it

As far as the silver lines go it’s the center and left one. The female threaded line on the right apparently is fine…

Those are two separate lines, correct? - not a loop line?

there's also a reverse osmosis water system under this sink which is why there's a bunch of extra lines all over.

Feel around these female fittings - are they perfectly round? or do you have flat sides to allow a pair of pliers or croissant wrench to grab for backup?

I don't think these were pushed in - they MUST'VE been threaded in.

they have flat sides. all of my common senses say that they can and should unthread, but that one plumber saying that Kohler presses fittings on these has me not wanting to put too much pressure.

We haven't moved into this house yet. its still being rented out and I don't want to leave them without water in the kitchen while piecing things together at the store, in case I can't find everything id need.

thats my impression too. oh well, time to wing it hope for the best. if all else fails I guess I get to replace their perfectly functioning faucet because insurance thinks the braided supply lines looked old...

Might be a stupid question, but what is the easiest way to get a backup water heater? As of right now I have an ancient Bosch tankless water heater, I'm always worried about it clonking out on me. I pretty much can't even go a few minutes without hot water so I'd like to have some sort of backup just in case, what would be the most efficient way to get one? I've seen these things on Amazon that look like junk but I would really only need it for the shower so if they work for a day or two that would be fine. I know it's overkill, but what about installing a second tankless next to the original?
