Yup....

"Submarine Uniform (Poopie Suit)
The standard uniform for officers and crew in a U.S. nuclear-powered submarine at sea is blue coveralls. They are made of lint-free polyester, because lint could clog the air purification system. This garment, known as a "poopie suit," is simple, easy to wear, and practical. Footwear is up to the individual, so long as it has a non-slip rubber sole, which also has the advantage of being quiet. Sneakers are popular. "

I've still got all the items I retired with. I only retired a year ago, though. I still have an old fatigue shirt from before the AF started wearing BDUs. My wife's bugging me to start purging, I'll get around to it. Still gonna keep the dress blues with full regalia to bury me in some day.

Let me guess... all of his stories start with, "There I was, no shit, knee deep in 60 brass and grenade pins..."

I thought I was the only one who kept all that stuff. I've got two pairs of jungle boots, too. None of my stuff fits anymore.:(

Definitely right about "Those who have done alot don't talk much". I worked with a guy who gained his boiler operations ticket working on a navy vessel. Took part in cost guard excersizes. Hilarious guy and talked all the time but never about his time in the service.

close...its usually 'i did that too!' he can walk into a conversation about anything and claim to have done it. a couple of us in the office are history buffs so there's been a lot of conversations about WWII and military history in general. no matter what we are discussing, if he comes in the office then he's got this been there, done that attitude. one day we were talking about John Wayne and the Green Berets movie...well by the end of the conversation he claimed to have done the retrieval method (just as is was shown in the movie) where the guys on the ground float up a line on a balloon and the airplane flys by and snags the line and whatever is attached to it....sorry  can't think of the 'technical term' right now for that...anyways by the time he was done telling his personal version of the story it was exactly like the scene in the movie. i was tempted to ask him what it was like to meet John Wayne but thought better of it.

he's also been run over by a tank...and walked away without a scratch. not saying it couldn't happen but its very unlikely.

Body donation is the way to go, or cremation. Always been a believe of remember those in your heart, not by visiting a stone.

I do have an actual Question for veterans though.

Is there a restriction placed on what you are allowed to tell people? For example, in the company I work for all information and knowledge gained while on company grounds and all documents are Company property. I can't tell anyone besides another employee unless I have management approval. Even cameras are restricted.

Are there military restrictions like this placed on the regular soldier? not talking like special operations or things like that.
