Thats awesome. Bird point is really cool. Next time venture a little further south to Seward or Homer. Really good saltwater fishing if you're into that. The towns are both quite a bit bigger than Whittier as well so there is a bit more to do.

Great to know, thanks! We'll probably be back next year! And for anyone who needs convincing that Alaska is beautiful, I have tons of photos. :)

I worked in Seward for a summer only a few years back. I was a deckhand for a wildlife/glacier tour company. I have family in Eagle River.

I used to go fishing on the Kenai every summer until a couple years ago. My largest King was 67 lbs and the Reds are fun as hell.

KFT!!! Kenai Fjords Tours! I worked on their new catamaran - that thing was sweet. I had a blast. My uncle worked for CIRI and told me about the company. Seward was fun to say the least.

You know any guides in Soldotna - Tim Hiner??

No I don't know Tim. I worked pretty close with KFT last couple years and then I just got a job at Shoreside Petro. I just filled the Ailalik Voyager two days ago.

My family owns 3 properties in Alaska one in Clam Gulch by the Kasilof and two by Anchor Point. I've been going there every year for the past 8 years. This summer I'm working up there for ten weeks. That's Alaskan enough for me and you can check my gallery for prOOf.

Alaska will welcome almost anyone... unless they're from Texas. We gotta hassle them a little bit.

you can get by without a block heater and yes eagle river is a decent place. just stay away from mid town and mountain view. South Anchorage is good area.
