there is "independent," it is just a broad term. but there are other categorized parties such as Libertarian and candidates can even run for the Communist party if they choose. it also depends on if you are talking about state or federal.

Ours were treated pretty badly. It took the time from Columbus came to here first, 1492, to 1924 for Native Americans to gain citizenship. That's almost 500 years for the original inhabitants of North America to even be able to vote and have their Constitutional rights.

I sort of answered that. But they were Inuits that crossed the Bering Strait and Native Americans from the North, and a mix of the two. I don't know as much about them as our natives though, no.

I realize that. And I also realize that they were fine before us. But I was making the point that after we dominated them for centuries, they were finally somewhat given the ability to participate in the government that they were subject to.

 

According to science, yes. The Inuits came from Asia. But I do believe that our natives came from in a southern part of North America or Central America that were mixed with others along the line. To be technical, all civilization developed in the Middle East. So ours could have very well been a mix in the middle of the Inuits with whoever was south of them. And they could be the descendants of Inuits that made if farther south. I'm not sure, maybe I'm Asian.

EDIT: Nobody can really justify this one way or the other. Archaeology can only tell us so much and there obviously aren't any written records from that long ago. And really, our aboriginals and yours are the same people. It's just like Canada and America now. Your Natives were our Natives' northern cousins.
