If you aren't jailbroken, do a backup and then connect to iTunes to update the OS. I haven't looked but you might be able to re-apply the OS as well.

This is exactly what I'm doing. Downloading, then dump the service.

25k songs for $25. $0.01 for 10 songs. Not bad.

As far as pirated or not, for all they know, you ripped your CD collection.

    I have a "2007", 24" iMAC with dual core 2.1's, 4 gig of memory and a gf 7300gt.
After having Apple replace several lcd's, multiple vid cards and 2 mainboards as well as fans over the 3 year warrenty...the hardrive finally goes bad. (now out of warenty, naturally).

I removed the case and have been inside of it several times to clean the fans and the very thin fragile ribbon cable from the superdrive to the mainboard severed.

I tried loading OSX thru an external dvd drive and have had no luck. The icon on the screen just shows the missing OS icon. (folder with a circle and line thru it, i think).
Is there anyway to load OSX onto my iMAC another way?
I have kind of read how to load from a usb drive but the problem is I cant boot up the computer to transfer the files I need to a usb drive so that I can load the OSX.

I have the install disks but no way to get them to a thumb drive so that I can attempt to load OSX via a thumbdrive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open Finder, click "all my files" and your most recent screenshots will be at the top of the list.

That's exactly what I was going to ask. Does anyone carry it local or do you have to order it? I need to try and install this weekend.

Or if anyone is interested in putting the latest OS on a bootable thumb drive I would rather pay a member of the community.

Cool. Thx. We have a bestbuy with an apple dealer here. I just didnt know if someone could burn there own OS onto a thumbdrive. There still is no keycode for apple os correct? I dont ever remember having to register my 10.4.

Hopefully best buy will have them on a thumb drive. That would totally make my weekend!

I've got a 13" Macbook Pro, bought it new for 1199. It does everything I need it to and then some. Don't know if you're looking to spend that kind of money, but you won't regret it.

The Macbook Air's are nice, too if you're looking to save a couple hundred.

Do you know what format the songs are in? Are you even sure you're doing it right? Be more specific!
