How do I upload songs or movies from different computers? I tried to select songs from iTunes on a girls computer and it wouldn't let me do it. I didn't wanna start playing with settings and have her library wiped out. She has something like 8,000 songs and would've shot me in my face

Can anyone tell me how to open a TaxAct file with my Mac? I'm working on refinancing my house and the mortgage company wants two years of 1040's. My 2010 taxes were done on a Windows based computer that I no longer have. I now have a MacBook Pro. I have the TaxAct file on a flash drive but I can't open it. I can't load the TaxAct program cause it's for Windows only. Any ideas? Thanks.

With BootCamp or Parallels you can run Windows on your Mac.

You dont say if she is on a MAC or a PC but either is fairly easy. Stay out of the iTunes program all together, but you are going to need some sort of medium to transfer the files, like a memory stick or a portable hard drive. Just plug either into your friends computer and go into their music files in Finder, or on a PC usually under my documents>music>itunes>itunes media. Grab any files you want and copy them to your hard drive. Then plug that hard drive into your computer, drag the files into your itunes and you are good to go.

I no has computer. It wouldn't let me do it because I wasn't backed up to her computer. Had the same issue with another friends computer. There's a way to do it, I just don't know what settings I have to change

    .
    Just curious on this.

Could you buy the new "5th Generation iPod" (looks like iPhone 5) and load Skipe and/or other talking programs on it and use it like a regular phone ??

I know I would need WiFi ... but this should work in theory .. eh ??

    Has anybody done this ?? .. eh ?? . . . . (said in my best Canadian voice) ... :D

Correct, but you don't even need the 5th gen...it can be done on any touch that you can download Skype on. You just need a headset with a mic.

Can anyone verify this? I talked to a Verizon agent about phone signal strength and was told that the Iphone 5 would pull in a stronger signal than the 4s. I'm thinking there is no difference in the 2. I'm looking to upgrade sometime next month maybe. I have trouble picking up a signal at work and want the best phone for this. If there is no difference I will likely stick with the 4s for the $ pending if there are any deals on or around black Friday.

    . . . ^ ^ ^ . . . The signal strength is the same . . . but it "might" maximize and/or decode that signal better.

No phone, that I know of, can actually increase the transmitted broadcast signal ... seems impossible to me.

    PS . . . "Go Dawgs" . . . :D

I understand that, but some phones do have better antennas than others therefore receiving the signal better. I was also told that I'm in a "marginal area" at my place of employment. And I don't have my own phone line at work or my own computer with internet access, so having a phone that can get a signal better is important to me.

I need my internet during the day so I can follow TW. :D

    Dear Apple Nerd,

All I want is FaceTime. Skype isn't very clear from Texas to my overseas location. I'm not interested in something as small as the iPhone.

Do I have another option besides an iPad, or iPad mini?

    Thank you in advance,
    Adam Baum

Very interesting. I have a Mac Mini that hardly gets used and I have thought about hooking it to the tv. So did you do anything special to it? Tell me what you have been using it for?

Did you figure this out? Because I do not think it is possible to transfer her songs unless you do a clean re-load of your devise. Meaning you cant keep your stuff and systematically add some of hers.

The majority of use will be as a media center for movies, music & gaming. Also, since my circa 2006 macbook is finally crapping out on me, I figured this would be a good alternative. Between my iMac in the office and my iPhone 5, I really don't need a new laptop for what I do.
