Sounds like a good plan. I have my iMac that I just got about a 9 months ago, a unreal machine, best desktop I have ever owned. I do see more and more that between the 5 and and the iPads in our house that the computer is used less and less. Although it is the hub to synch and share everything from. I am thinking ATV would be a good investment for $99 though, mainly because it would be a cheap, and wireless way to stream the itunes through the home theater system.

I started with 2 ATV and still have one in the bedroom...you said it, for $99 they're tough to beat. My tv/stereo setup is too nice to not be used though and the ATV just wasn't cutting it for me content wise. Shows that I miss that I want to stream are no fun sitting in the office when I can make it feel like the house is crumbling down around me in the living room!

So are you using the Mac as a DVR of sorts? To record programs while you are away?

No recording at all, but lots of content streaming & downloading. I've got a DVR on the same TV however...I'd love to get rid of cable all together but with sports and my roommate having his own setup downstairs, just can't pull the trigger.

The OP hasn't been active on TW since March...But anyway, if he does come back. Do you know when the new iOS update for the iPhone is coming out? I updated to iOS6 and it was perhaps one of the biggest mistakes I've made with a phone, just awful software. Only thing I truly like about it is the "Do Not Disturb" feature so I can sleep at night. I've tried reverting it to my old software but cannot seem to do so, I am a tech tard to be honest, wont deny it lolz.

Depending on the updates, sometimes you can do a complete restore to a previous version, but since this was a full version upgrade, once you're updated, it's very difficult to go back.

Which iPhone do you have? Ran it for 2 weeks on my 4 without issue before I got my 5. Besides Maps, what problems are you having?

I agree that iOS6 is a little buggy. I think there are some software issues as it related to use of wi fi, cel, and LTE antennas, that are causing some battery life issues. Lots of write ups about it on the Mac Forums. I would suspect before the mini, and new iPad hit the shelves there will be an update. I am anxiously awaiting one, because as I mentioned there are just little things that need to be worked out. Not by any means bitching, iOS6 is a great platform, but like anything updates are needed. As Richard mentioned that it is very difficult to revert back to iOS5, I think it is darn near impossible unless you are JB.

Yeah, I've tried reverting it to the old software but can't. Mine just has poor battery power, I am lucky to make until noon on more than 60% battery, even though I shut off all my apps when I am not using them. Also it freezes up all the time and sometimes take a few minutes to unfreeze, a little unsettling to me. If I ever got in a emergency situation and had to dial 911 and the phone froze, someone could literally lose their life. If things don't improve, I think I will find my old LG flip phone from the stone age and re-activate it until the folks at Apple get their ducks in a row and make a reliable iOS software. My phone is a 4S btw. My Dad has one, but was smart and didn't upgrade, lucky guy!

Will iPhone iOS ever work with Entune so I can get text message functionality? My wife's new Accord, which can read text's as well, won't work with iPhone either.

i have a 4s running 5.1.1 jailbroken. my microphone just messed up out of no where so now i have to talk on speaker phone or plug in a headset. i was wanting to take it back to the store so they could look at it but i didnt want to restore my phone to have to get rid of the jailbreak. so my question is, if i back up my phone with 5.1.1 and i restore, could i restore from my back up and still be running 5.1.1?

That sucks...as I mentioned before, completely opposite experience for me after I updated on my 4. Only recommendation I would give is to backup your phone and do a full restore...I'm fairly certain if took it to an Apple store, this would be the end-all solution before giving you a new phone.

One of the things that I have read to help battery life is to do a complete new phone restore. When you hook your phone to itunes and hit restore, when it is finished downloading the software it will ask if you want to set your phone up as new or restore from back up. Restore the phone from new. It will reset all your settings but it did help my phone, and lots of other folks who were experiencing battery life problems.

Another tip is to go to settings>privacy>location services>system services, and make sure all those features are turned to off.

And one more settings>general>about>advertising>turn on limit ad tracking

The two tips above are new features for iOS6, and there has been a lot of discussion on mac forums that these are causing some constant searching and synching, therefore using much needed battery.

    hope they help

"Things went nuts" isn't really a diagnosis. What happened exactly?

I can tell that you don't really know what you're talking about. Back up and restore your phone as a new device, not from a back up and there, problem solved your phone will work fine. What a lot of people dont understand is technology isnt perfect, yes every once in a while it will bug out. So without going to extremes and saying your phone could potentially kill someone just simply ask first.
