I have an iPhone 4S 64gb. Yesterday I tried to install the latest update for iOS 8. My phone crashed during the process and ended up in recovery mode according to iTunes (latest version for Windows 7). In order get the phone to work I had to restore it. Googled to see if there was anyway around this and didn't find any solutions so I restored it.

Stupid me got too complacent and I ended up slacking off on doing periodical backups. The last backup was in October and this is what the phone will restore to. iCloud was too full so I think it stopped backing up pics long before that. So I restored the phone and am missing pics from mid October til the end of December (Photo Stream thankfully still had pics from this month). After I restored the phone I did more googling and found that I could've kicked the phone out of recovery mode with some 3rd party software. Too little too late which brings me to my next question. Now that the phone is restored can I still somehow recover the lost pics? I cancelled the syncing process after the restore so as not to overwrite any pics that may still be deep in the file structure somewhere.

I'm currently googling about 3rd party recovery software but figured I'd ask here. Doesn't hurt to get different perspectives. Thanks in advance.

ipad air 2. Thinking of buying one for the little lady. We have yet to venture into the tablet world. We are both pc people but have, use, and are junkies on our iphones. Any word on the next gen ipad release dates? Should I just get the 2? Any prebuying input for a tablet rookie would be much appreciated. Thinking of going with a 64 or 128 with WiFi and Cellular, then canceling our verizon hotspot. Any personal experience with the added protection plans, she's broken at least 2 iphones(bit clumsy)? Thanks all.

The only new Apple tablet on the horizon is the Pro which is an even larger version. No new iOS on the horizon unless Apple decides to drop a bomb. I'd get the most memory I could afford and a cellular version.

Verizon has a $100 dollar rebate on the 128 wifi cellular with 2 year contract, getting me out the door for $729 + $35(horseshit) activation fee. Plus I'll need a case too.
Buy it once and buy it right.

Whatever suits your needs, most of the places now of days have WIFI connections. i have the iPad Air(WIFI only) when i do take it out there WIFI connection pretty much every coffee shop, most fast food restaurants. But if you thinking on taking it like on road trips then i see you might want 4G connection for entertainment.

If you on planning on buying case with apple i suggest you dont unless they have it very cheap deal , i usually shop around first for a case before i make a ipad or iPhone.

I'm about to smash my MacBook and go buy a windows computer!!

So I installed Yosemite on my MacBook, and it slowed it down. Especially the Internet. I'm in school full time and don't have time to deal with all the possible fixes. I read the update notes and it says the update fixes the slowness. So I install the update.

Now I'm fucked. Desktop looks fine, I try to click on safari and it logs me off my user account. So I log back in, desktop loads again, this time with safari open. I close it, and it logs me off.
Wtf???? I restart and it does it again.

Of course there's no simple way to go back to the old OS either. Fixes for my current issues and issues before update are ridiculous. I bought a damn mac, not a flipping windows computer. Before the update, I push the on button, and computer does its thing flawless. After update its the same as a garbage windows computer.

    Any ideas??

Try opening Disk Utility and repairing disk permissions.

Do you have any backups saved? That's one way to get back to the way it was. I have a mac desktop. My experience with new os systems is not to put them on older computers. It does just what you said, slows them down. I installed the last, not the most recent, os on my desktop and it slowed it down. My desktop is about 5 years old. It ran seamlessly until that update.

I googled and it states that once you update the macbook, a back up will not revert to the old OS. Not sure if true or not, so I moved on.

I restarted it twice, and it seems to be working better, and faster then before. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, that may very well be true for a macbook. I know with the desktop that you can backup to time machine you can return the computer back to a previous os. Hopefully it keeps running better for you.

I'd still suggest you use disk utility to repair disk permissions.

I have an iphone 6 and just noticed today the swipe down menu only works when in the lock screen, is this new? The issue is while in the lock screen it only shows the "today" view and will not let me view the actual notifications unless I unlock the phone, but once its unlocked it wont swipe down

Anyone had to Replace a screen on a mid2014 Macbook Pro 13"? Or have any ideas how much Apple is probably going to charge me if it isn't covered by warranty?

It was dropped, but no visual damage on the case anywhere, just lines of pixels covering the right side of the screen.

That's good. I don't really know what Apple charges for the repair time itself, but it's really a pretty simple job to put in the display on these new machines. Check out iFixit and see if it's something you'd wanna tackle yourself. Good luck!
